Stop all recommendation and support letters

From all the recent fiasco which involve the case of recommendation and support letters, it can be seen very clear that it had lead to some abuses when these letters were issued to too many aspiring contractors and businessmen who were out to gain as many contact jobs as possible from the government.

Just take a look at the current one, where a state executive councillor's letterhead was being used by another person who signed on behalf of the state executive councillor. To say it is completely wrong to sign on behalf, it would not right but to say it is a right thing to do, would not reason that such practices were good or whatsoever.

First of all why all these recommendation and support letters? Well, as we had all known such practices has been in place ever since the BN starts governing our nation and the states. It has already been a something like culture or norm since then. It has been made a must to have such letters for all those aspiring contractors and businessmen.

Why do all these aspiring contractors and businessmen need such recommendation and support letters from the state executive councillors, state assemblymen or municipal councillors anyway? Why can't all these contractors come up and prove their worth with their track records and professionalism.

And the other problem is why can't the civil servants who are put to take charge in various tenders process all these applications without having to depend too much on these support and recommendation letters? It will add up their paperwork and further create burdens to them, isn't it so? Why can't these civil servants who are in charge of these tender applications take up their task diligently and professionally, and not liaising with politics in order to allow entry of selected contractors or businessmen to take up those jobs?

So, the real fact here is the issuing of such recommendation and support letters had eventually lead to number of abuses either by its owners, personal aides or their staffs. And if these kind of letters lead to such abuses, then in turn it will also further lead to corruption or some sort of "returning the favour" practices, come with another simple word call "commission".

Now the cases of misused letterhead had emerged and exposed in Selangor because the state government is brave enough to admit its error and mistakes made by its administrators to the people and quickly move into redemption as well.

Whereas in those states still govern by BN, you have not heard any exposures because they have been cover-up from the top to the bottom levels of their administrations. It is not that they do not have such power abuse in their state. Everything issue held by the BN states are confidential and made secret. Therefore, their power abuse and mismanagements are also confidential.

We applaud what the Selangor state government and the ruling party leaders there had done. When such cases were detected, they acted and moved in swiftly to neutralize the entire situation which demonstrates that they are committed to withhold their principle of good governance and justice.

And this is the kind of state government that we want. We hope the other Pakatan rule states, like Penang, Kedah and Kelantan would follow suit to ensure their principles of good governance are not undermined by such negative elements.

By the way, can you all do away with such recommendation and support letters? Such practices are conservative and unhealthy.
