Nik Aziz encouraged Teo to visit more suraus from now on

Shrugging off mounted racist attacks and threats by Umno, Perkasa and MAIS over her visit to a surau last week, Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching said she is emboldened to visit even more Muslim houses of worship after being encouraged to do so by PAS Spiritual Leader and Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

We are all glad that Teo had never given up her battle against all these racist terrorism who are out there to create hatred, revenge, violence and destruction of the national unity of our nation's multi-racial communities.

This was also strengthened by statements made by renowned Islamic scholar Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin and Ustaz Zakaria Ahmad of Penang who both confirmed that there's nothing wrong at all for a non-Muslim to visit suraus or mosques and there is no sin for a Muslim to invite his or her non-Muslim friends to visit suraus or mosques.

The Prophet had received non-Muslims representatives and friends in a mosque, how can they be banned from entering the mosque today?

These are negative actions initiated by Umno, Perkasa and they are not in line of the Islamic teachings. Both of these two radical organizations are not as Islam as they claimed.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

No action against YBs without speaker's consent

Penang assembly Speaker Law Choo Kiang said the police and attorney-general (AG) cannot prosecute any elected representatives for any wrongdoings committed in the House. Law said the authorities cannot act on the assemblypersons without the agreement of the speaker. "So this clearly cancels the (planned) charge against Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer for sedition under the 1948 Sedition Act," the PKR Bukit Tambun assemblyperson said in a statement yesterday. Law said a warning based on the assembly's standing orders has been issued to Rayer not to repeat the remark "Umno celaka" (damned Umno), which the latter allegedly uttered in the House on May 20.
