Bumi discount: Umno Youth lodges police report to safeguard its wealth and political interests

Selangor Umno Youth today lodged a police report against DAP’s publicity chief Tony Pua over the latter’s call for bumiputra discounts for high-end property purchase to be abolished.

The report was lodged by the Selangor Umno Youth information head Safarizul Mustafa, who was accompanied by about 30 party supporters, at the Ampang Jaya police station.

According to Safarizul, the Petaling Jaya Utara MP's proposal was considered as very dangerous, provocative and inciting racial hatred. Besides, he also alleged that Pua had also insulted the Federal Constitution which guarantees the special rights for bumiputra.

We want to ask this Safarizul, what does he mean by "very dangerous, provocative and inciting racial hatred" in his statement? In which part of Pua's proposal that had clearly and proven to be "very dangerous, provocative and inciting racial hatred"? Did Pua ever suggest that the entire segment of the bumiputra's special rights to be abolished?

We would like to ask Safarizul and his 30-odd supporters to use their drying brains to think hardly and carefully of their actions. To us, they are all making a fool of themselves, thus telling the public that they are real idiots in politics.

First of all Pua did not even mention nor propose that this bumiputra discounts for all kinds of property purchase to be abolished. The MP only suggested that bumiputra discounts for high-end property purchase to be abolished, as we all believed that those who purchase high-end properties are the ones in the rich and wealthy category. This proposal is indeed very fair.

Instead, Safarizul and his Umno men had intended to misquote Pua's statement and politicize it into a racial issue by manipulating it into a blatant racial and hatred manner. Umno wanted revenge and that is why they twisted the facts.

The other issue is, according to Safarizul, Pua's proposal had clearly undermined and insulted the Federal Constitution which guarantees the special rights for bumiputras. Which provision in the Federal Constitution that guarantees the bumiputras the right for discounts in property purchase? Safarizul must come forward to prove that Pua had undermined and insulted the provision stated in the Federal Constitution.

Let us go back to the facts. All these Umno leaders really wanted to become fools and idiots because they wanted to protect their rights to purchase high-end properties with discounts, so that they could resell them at a higher price in order to achieve the highest profit at the expense of our ordinary Malaysians.

They are playing race card and hatred to ensure their profitable business continues. Just look at all those luxurious palaces, mansions and "istanas" build and owned by these Umno leaders. Even the Yang Dipertuan Agong and Sultans could not afford all those high-ends where the Umno leaders could.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

No action against YBs without speaker's consent

Penang assembly Speaker Law Choo Kiang said the police and attorney-general (AG) cannot prosecute any elected representatives for any wrongdoings committed in the House. Law said the authorities cannot act on the assemblypersons without the agreement of the speaker. "So this clearly cancels the (planned) charge against Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer for sedition under the 1948 Sedition Act," the PKR Bukit Tambun assemblyperson said in a statement yesterday.
