PAS veep says Umno attack on Teo a ‘cheap issue’

PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub has accused Umno of double standards for criticizing Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching’s visit to a surau in her constituency.

Teo has come under fire for delivering a speech at the Surau Al-Huda in Kajang last Sunday after evening prayers.

“It is usual for BN component parties like MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, SUPP, PRS, UPKO and LDP representatives to go to mosques and give speeches,” he said.

“When BN does it, there is no issue. But when Pakatan Rakyat (PR) does it, there is an issue. This is a cheap issue,” he added.

The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) issued Teo a warning and suspended the Al-Huda surau committee over the incident while Wanita Umno chief Senator Shahrizat Jalil labelled Teo’s surau visit “insulting” - Agencies.
