Sime Darby GM charged with graft. But no affirmative results

Sime Darby's general manager for business development, investments and investment projects Zamri Mohd Iderus was today charged in the Sessions Court here with two counts of selling company information. The court set September 29 for further mention of his corruption trial.

So what? This is only a beginning. And we are still saying that the MACC is not doing enough to get rid of such negative elements from the government, its agencies and wholly-own companies.

In the case of Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), it is only Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik charged, what about the others who had collaborated with him, what about those on top there who had acknowledged and allowed his move to do so? Why are these crooks still free outside there.

Same goes to this Sime Darby case, why only a general manager alone was charge? We are certain that there are other accomplice as well, has his bosses being scrutinized on this case? Just like Tun Ling, Zamri could not have done so many wonders like that for years if not for the authorization or go ahead from someone on top there.

If not, why have these two men survive for so long? This question is very critical and someone from the federal government, particularly the prime minister and finance minister should answer to our people and the entire nation. We are watching you.

The fact that is all these scandals do have direct or indirect political links from within and outside of both establishments. That is why they are only being charged recently, not because they were actually wrong and guilty, but should we say they were merely scapegoats?

There are some possibilities that these two men were mere scapegoats. If not, where are the rest of the gang members?

What about Felda losses, Felcra debts, VK Lingam video tape, the Bakun Dam, Pos Malaysia's losses, the mismanagements in the government procurement systems, the Khir Toyo case, the two malfunction submarines, the illegal loggings in Sarawak, the Sabah crisis of identity and a lot more. If we were to properly list out all these, it would cost us a few books on this.

So, MACC we know you are doing your job now but where are your directions and objectives. We want to see results and not publicities stunts like these two. They are too basics to be said a big ones. If you want to regain our people's trusts and confidence, you must act and perform professionally and diligently without fear and favour.

Just look at the Hong Kong ICAC, even the commissioner of police was arrested and so, even the secretary of the government was also arrested. The ICAC stand out on top of the others and the people could see the difference between the other sectors and the ICAC. And this is how the ICAC gained their reputation from the general public because of their professionalism and neutrality in their tasks.
