Charge air force general for treason
The federal government and the defense ministry should charge in court the air force brigadier-general and his forty men who stole the fighter jet engines for treason and threat against our country’s national security.
What are they waiting for? According to the prime minister as well as the defense minister, they promised to tell all and reveal to the public of their investigation and those whom they had detained and arrested for the theft.
But we have yet to see any results till now. Who are the culprits? Who are those who had collaborated with the foreigners to steal our country’s military equipments? Is the federal government sincere in letting all of us know what had happened and transpired since 2007?
Why only now, they had decided to reveal this case to the public? Are they going to reveal what had actually happened in 2007, 2008, 2009 and now 2010? Or they will just reveal only what had happened in 2009 and cover up the rest from 2007 to 2008 in order not to embarrass the leaders in the BN-led federal government as well as the prime minister who was the defense minister at that time?
Furthermore, why are they only planning to charge the brigadier-general and his forty men for a mere theft and not for treason or “penderhaka”? And worst still, the brigadier-general’s pension has been maintained reasoning his “long service” to the country.
Just what kind of “long service” they are talking about? This one star general had committed an act which could threaten our nation’s security and safety of our people. And he has a lot of explanations to make when the charges are made against him in the court soon.
The other issue is, since he and his men are military personnel, why aren’t they being charge in the military court? Is the court martial too harsh for them and their families?
The ISA detention is very harsh to most of us who had experience the threat and detention used by the federal government to curb the influence of opposition politics in this country. The ISA has been used to politically strengthen the BN-led federal government and weakened the movement of the opposition parties for decades.
Is this fair to our people? Those who are really committing treason and “menderhaka” to our nation were merely charged for stealing, whereas those who are innocent and fought for our people’s cause were instead detained under the ISA and some were charged for treason. These all are clearly unjust, undemocratic and unconstitutional.
Is it because the brigadier-general and his forty men are “bumiputras” while our Karpal Singh, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng or V.Sivakumar are not? Is the BN-led federal government able to give a reasonable explanation onto this and convince the people that they are acting in a just manner? We are all still waiting for their word of explanation without cover up, we hope.
So many questions but unfortunately the answers are insufficient. Let us make it simple now.
