Shape up or be shipped out, cops told

We are now in the year 2010, the beginning of 2010 with many of us making our New Year resolutions aiming to develop and improve ourselves. Many of us also made our New Year wish to have a peaceful, democratic, just and fair nation to be in. Our wish to have a crime free nation is also on our list.

But we know, a nation with a one hundred percent crime free is impossible, and that is why we are always praying and hoping that the crimes in our streets can be reduced as much as possible in order for us to enjoy a safe and peaceful environment.

However today, the crime rate is increasing. The criminals are getting more sophisticated then our police personnel. These bad guys are often even more equipped than our policemen. Besides, they also know very well of our police force’s operational schedules and patrols.

So, what had our Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM) being doing all these while? They cannot even defeat the notorious “mat rempit” gangs in our streets and those snatch thieves who had so far killed many of its victims. To make things worst these criminals are now claiming to be equivalent in status with the police force.

And yet the Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government had decided to renew the contract of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hassan just because of his undivided loyalty to Umno, the dominant party of the BN coalition government and not because of his efficiency.

What we knew today is the police’s special branch had about more than ten thousand personnel stationed in the entire nation to watch over the political activities of our opposition leaders and had these PKR, DAP and PAS activism curbed efficiently in order to protect the declining Umno’s position in our country.

When Umno launched a bloodless coup d’etat to topple the elected Perak State Government of Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin on early of February 2009, the police marched in full force to support the establishment of the Perak Rebel State Government initiated by Umno after they ousted the Pakatan-led state government.

And did you also know, the police also worked well by mobilizing thousands of men to assist Umno to ousted the Perak state assembly speaker V.Sivakumar from his office in a disorderly and unconstitutional manner.

Why employ thousands of personnel for the police special branch just to advance the political interest of only the ruling racist party and its coalition? And why till today, they are telling us that they do not have sufficient personnel to patrol the streets for crime preventions and so on? They are not being reasonable given the fact that they had clearly demonstrated their loyal interest in preserving and helping Umno to advance its political interest.

The police are now treating Malaysia-today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin as the nation’s number one enemy (actually Umno’s number one enemy) instead of drug dealers, robbers, mat rempits, rapist, snatch thieves, murderers, corruption, etc.

IGP Musa had vowed to track down Raja Petra who is believed to be residing in England and had continuously contacted the British Scotland Yard for more information which until today he failed to gain.

That is why the real and actual criminals in our country nowadays are getting bolder and daring in their heists and illegal activities. Many of these criminal gangs are now operating in day light as they knew the police are only interested in politics and not at them anymore.

The only thing we could hope for now is to wait till the term comes and we vote the BN out from power and put Pakatan Rakyat in Putrajaya. And when Pakatan goes to Putrajaya, we will then pressure them to replace the discredit PDRM with a more reliable and people-oriented Public Security Force (PSF).

Therefore, we would like to remind PDRM to shape up or be shipped out.
