Pakatan Rakyat need to strengthen its security

Until today we are still seeing how Pakatan Rakyat been threatened with series of possible defections and talks of its MPs or state assemblymen intending to cross over to BN or Umno. Some say Umno is currently holding secret talks with Pakatan MPs and state assemblymen on the compensations and benefits, should they decided to cross over and so on. The bigger examples in Perak is over and now it is coming over to Selangor and Penang, the two most industrialized states that the BN and Umno are planning to retake at any cost, even if they have to resort with another few more coup d'etats. What now? Why is it happening? One very simple answer. Pakatan Rakyat is still lack of political security to govern and to ensure its coalition and organizations are intact and secure. The current Pakatan structure does not have a proper institution tasked with overseeing the political security of their coalition and the states that they are currently governing. You can compare the current strength t...

Umno uses Thaipusam to discredit Selangor State Government

To intensify their effort to retake Selangor at all cost, Umno had came up with number of master plans like getting MACC officers to frequently ambush the state government's machinery and its officials for any alleged corrupt practice, playing up as many racial sentiments as possible like the cow-head incident and the bombing of churches in the state by religious and racist extremists believed to be sponsored by the dominant party of the BN coalition. Besides, Umno is also working very hard to ensure its former menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo is not indicted of any corruption charges for fear it might further tarnish the image of the party. Efforts has been work out behind close doors with the MACC in order not to implicate Dr Khir on his past misdeeds and mismanagement of the state public funds. And during Thaipusam, Umno even used this religious event to discredit the Pakatan-led Selangor state government by giving instructions to its police force to remove the state government...

DPM said Interfaith Commission not required

The Umno-led BN federal government has no plan to set up an Inter-faith Commission at the moment, Deputy Prime Minister and Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said. Tan Sri Muhyiddin even mentioned ā€œWe donā€™t need an inter-faith commission. At the moment we donā€™t feel that it is something necessary".That means Umno and BN preferred an informal dialogue on inter-faith because they are not serious to promote a long term racial and religious harmony for fear they might loose out in their quest to regain support from the Malay community. Since the inter-faith dialogue will be an informal one, Umno will still hold the racial card firmly and would play them whenever required in order to stir up support for their party. Umno did not want the inter-faith commission (IFC) to be formalized for fear relevant laws leading to the control of ethnic relations will be introduced in future to stamp out racism and religious extremism which are mostly initiated by them.

UM grads occupy admin building, demand fresh campus polls

Pro-Mahasiswa graduates cry foul over their elections defeat in Universiti Malaya (UM), claims the election was rigged by the university's administration and demand answers from vice-chancellor. To make their dissatisfaction and demands heard, the UM graduates occupied the university's administration building to seek for the answers of a possible fraud in the university's elections. The pro-Aspirasi students groups believed to be heavily funded by the BN had earlier won the majority seats in the student's representative council in the recently concluded campus elections. So, what about the elections in the other universities, like Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), etc? All rigged by the university's administration and their vice-chancellors on the instruction of the director-general of higher education who receives his order from the minister of higher education? If the elections are carried out i...

Federal govt outlines fight against graft in GTP roadmap, but we doubt it

The federal government said it aims to increase its score in Transparency Internationalā€™s (TI) Corruption Perception Index (CPI) Score to 4.9 in 2010 from 4.5 presently as part of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Roadmap launched here yesterday by Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak. Malaysia has seen its position in TIā€™s CPI drop to 56 in 2009 from 23 in 1995. The CPI measures the perceived level of public-sector corruption in 180 countries and territories around the world. We are doubtful. Does the Umno-led Barisan federal government really has the political will to get rid of corruption and initiate changes in its administration? We had heard and seen many pledges after pledges and some even openly promised to combat corruption but to-date, nothing concrete has been seen. What we saw today is the MACC kept its subservient role of going after only the Pakatan Rakyat leaders and their currently rule state governments. Deputy Prime Minister and Umno de...

I love my country, did the rulers appreciate us?

Malaysia is the country where I was born, being brought up and this is also where I received my education. I love my country because this is where I belong. As a Malaysian who love this country, I carry on with my responsibilities as a voter to cast my ballot papers in every general elections, I acted as a responsible citizen to ensure democracy in our country is well and alive, pay my taxes promptly to the government in my hope that with this funds in hand, the federal government will continue to develop the country into one of the best. But what we have today, what I saw today were the other way round. I was once a member and supporter of a political party that once rule the Penang state emphasizing its Bangsa Malaysia, Anak Malaysia concepts and claiming to be championing a non-racial approach towards policies and implementations. The party which I had previously joined and supported did not adhere by its own objectives nor stand by its principles. It became too subservient to a rac...

MTUC wants EPF to declare higher dividend

The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) today called on the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to declare a higher dividend this year, saying the EPF had obtained increased income from its investments. MTUC vice-president A. Balasubramaniam said that in the last 10 years, the highest dividend paid was six per cent, in the year 2000. In previous years, it was between 4.25 and 5.8 per cent, he said, adding that last year it was 4.5 per cent. Balasubramaniam said the EPF had announced an income of RM5.5 billion in the third quarter of last year compared to RM3.6 billion in the similar quarter of 2008. ā€œAs a result of this increased income, we expect the EPF to pay a higher dividend,ā€ he said. The EPF has 12 million members, 5.1 million of whom are active contributors - Agencies .

Peaceful gathering cannot, but violent protests allowed and encouraged

Last week university students held a peaceful gathering at the to protest the use of the doubtful e-voting system which is to be carried out in campus elections by the ministry of higher education were arrested by the police and thrown into the lock up reasoning security is under threat. The gathering was peaceful with only one banner held calling on the ministry officials and university authorities to review the doubtful e-voting system which is not transparent and could lead to cheating and fraud. The higher education ministry and the university authorities are too arrogant to see these students and review policies with the student representative council via democratic and consultation process. And that is why they called the police to avenge their anger on the students representatives for calling on more democratic channel to be implemented in the campuses. But when some radical and extremist muslim groups tying to disrupt peace and religious harmony in this country by provoking ang...

Resist hatred, pray for peace

The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) and the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, HinĀdusim, Sikhism and Taoism have condemned the recent attacks on places of worship. ā€œWe are aghast at the on-going desecration of places of worship by acts of arson and vandalism, the latest of which affected two surau in Muar,ā€ said CFM chairman Bishop Ng Moon Hing. ā€œWe urge the police to investigate and swiftly bring to justice such perpetrators of violence against houses of worship, be it churches, temples, gurdwaras, mosques and surau,ā€ he said in a statement. Since the High Court decision on Dec 31 that the Catholic weekly Herald could use the word ā€œAllahā€ in its Bahasa Malaysia publication, several churches and a gurdwara have been the target of arson attacks and vandalism. Two surau also fell victim on Thursday. Home minister and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said they had not dismissed the possibility that the arson attacks in Mu...

MACC and police should realize their misdeeds

The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police force should realize their current misdeeds, mismanagement and improper conducts when they are discharging their duties and should not blame the bloggers for tarnishing the image and reputation of the MACC and the police. The fact that is the MACC and the police were the ones who had being tarnishing their own image and reputation all these while for not being impartial and apolitical when discharging their duties and responsibilities. There are numeruous examples and quotes that clearly shows that they are not doing what they were supposed to do and behaved one-sided in their investigations, arrests and other actions. When Barisan and Umno politicians were reported to had swindled millions of ringgit of public funds, no action nor investigation were initiated against those culprits from the ruling elites, but if there is, the investigation was a minor one and it was never intensify at all. But when officials and politicia...

Roadblock at Penang bridge created a massive traffic jam

A police-led roadblock near the Penang Bridge last Thursday and Friday had created a massive traffic jam on the bridge. According to the police the purpose of the roadblock was to nab those errant factory buses and vans who operated without permits or with expired ones. Besides creating a massive traffic jam on the bridge, the police roadblock had also created a nuisance to the road users who are on their way home from their offices in Penang Island. The other issue is the roadblock also caused a few minor accidents in the middle of the bridge due to the constant slow moving of vehicles. First of all why the police organized this roadblock to create problems for innocent road users? Can't the police hold operation to nab those errant factory buses and vans elsewhere and why has it got to be on the Penang bridge? You know the Penang bridge is not only being used by the factory buses and vans but also other road users and motorist as well. After a day's work in the office, our wo...

Why is a formal inter-religious dialogue not urgent?

According to the Gerakan president, who is also the minister in the prime minister's department Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, an inter-religious dialogue need not to be formalized and it can be held via "teh tarik" type of sessions which is to be organized by the federal government from time to time with each session separately for each religious bodies. Just what is Dr Koh talking about? Is he really serious about national unity and religious harmony? We should say he did not really recognize the active role current undertaken by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) in promoting multiracial and inter-religious harmony in our nation. In fact the MCCBCHST had been trying to include the Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (Jakim) but the federal government's religious institution was too arrogant to join effort with the MCCBCHST for the betterment of national unity and promote inter-religious harmony. Jakim had sin...

MMSP leaders are now sacking each other

Recently, the Malaysian Makkal Sakti Party (MMSP) deputy president A.Vathemurthy announced that his "central committee" consist of 14 members had met and decided to expel its party president RS Thanenthiran from the party and would appoint a new party president soon. But today, the "expelled" party president who had just returned from Chennai, India this morning that, his other "central committee" had also removed Vathemurthy and the 14 others from the party membership. MMSP was launched by BN chairman and prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on 27 October 2009 last year had since embroiled in a leadership crisis where a faction led by its deputy president had decided to revolt against the party president for alleged tarnishing the party's image. Actually, what is the objective of the formation of MMSP? You are just three months old and still immature in politics and now you are already fighting among yourselves. The MMSP leaders had forgotten their o...

What now? PWTC scandal?

When the Selangor Pakatan state government was accused of utilizing contracts to finance political activities and people-oriented programs, the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) efficiently spring into action by ambushing members and officials of the state government without any concrete evidence to do so. But when we see Umno and their cronies misused billions of ringgit of taxpayers money and pressuring banks to write-off their loans just like that, the MACC just sit there and did nothing, citing that there was no report made against them. Now, when the question of the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) ownership being illegally and inappropriately held by Umno pops up recently following a publication of a book written by a prominent writer, MACC kept quiet. Why? Because the prime minister's department asked them to do so. So, no matter how many times the Umno-led federal government decided to change the MACC chief commissioner, it will as it is. No changes or revamp at al...

Police spy caught in DAP convention!

A man, believed to be a police special branch officer, was detained by DAP's security personnel when he was caught red-handed recording the proceedings of the party's national convention at the Syuen Hotel here today. According to party insiders, the man had sneaked into the control room for the ballroom where the function is being held and had managed to record at least eight sound clips of the entire convention's proceedings since 10am this morning. Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham lambasted the police for their act of intruding on the peopleā€™s privacy. ā€œIt is not about whether or not we were discussing secrets during our convention but about the fact that the police have absolutely no respect at all for the privacy of others. ā€œUnder the law, a person who enters the convention or meeting of a private organisation is clearly committing trespass,ā€ he said. The police is spying on a private meeting mean only for party members. This is gravely wrong, a disgrace and a pub...

Karpal: Lim Didn't Refuse to Cooperate with police

DAP National Chairman Karpal Singh refuted the allegation by Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar that Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng refused to cooperate with police in giving a statement last Saturday. Karpal said Lim had prior to that requested that he be supplied a copy of the police report before giving his statement under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC). "The Chief Minister had made it very clear that he was not refusing to make the statement but required a copy of the police report," he said, adding that the police report would ensure whatever he said would be the truth as he was bound to state the truth. Karpal said that under Section 193 of the Penal Code for giving false evidence or fabricating false evidence, and under Section 203 for giving false information, the offender could face a jail sentence or a fine or both. "It is necessity in law, for a police officer recording a statement under Section 112 (o...

Simple Basics of National Unity

We cannot take our racial and religious harmony for granted. Some of the very basic and simple principles to preserve our national unity that our nation's politics had yet to mature: 1) All racial and religious groups must exercise tolerance and restraint. 2) We must keep religion separate from politics and governance. 3) The constitution and the government have to remain secular. 4) Maintain our common space that all Malaysians share. If our nation's government can adopt the above four basic principles without any hesitation, Malaysia would have belongs to all Malaysians today. However, we are still far from being a real nation. Thanks to Umno and its supreme order.

Separate dialogues are ineffective

The Gerakan president and minister in the prime minister's department Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said that the federal government has been meeting with the religious groups prior to the attacks, which came after the Dec 31 High Court ruling that Catholic weekly Herald has the constitutional right to use the word ā€œAllahā€ to describe the Christian God in their Bahasa Malaysia section. ā€œWe have had discussions with every group separately, even before this but as you could understand, every faith has different groupings with different views" according to Dr Koh. What is the use of having these dialogues separately? You cannot exchange views effectively. It is just like not having it at all. If you have it separately, are you able to record those feedback and translate them accurately and effectively to the other religious groups and will they be able to fully understand your interpretation entirely? Definitely not, because each of us will have our view and words when translating it a...

Inter-Faith Commission, Race and Religious Relations Act

After all those happenings, the bombings, the fire bombs thrown nationwide by those who claimed to be defending from being threatened but in actual fact they are the ones who are threatening the innocent and peace-loving people, it is time for all of us to stop all these for the sake of our nation building and national unity. It is now time for us to implement measures in order to avoid the repeat of the similar racial and religious tensions that we had experienced since 2006. The previously proposed Inter-Faith Commission (IFC) must be established in order to preserve religious harmony, inter-faith understanding and to discuss matters arising from conversion, conflict resolutions as well as regular inter-religious dialogues. Umno and its Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition had all these while behaved in an arrogant way by refusing to discuss and promote dialogues over inter-religious matters by reasoning that such moves will downgrade Islam as an official religion of the country. So far, ...

Penang Island wants city status

Penang is applying to the Housing and Local Government Ministry for the whole island to be granted city status, and for the Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) to be elevated to a city hall. Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng said today he had recently raised the matter with minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, who did not object to the proposed idea. "The previous government was offered the city status, but did not want to take it up," Lim said at a press conference after the swearing-in of MPPP councillors for the 2010 term at the City Hall here. He said the conferment of city status for the whole island was important, especially since George Town had already been recognised by Unesco as a historic city. State Local Government Committee chairman and Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow, who was also present, said city status would bring added benefits to the island residents. For example, as a City Hall, the islandā€™s local government would have more powers in...

Datuk Seri Anwar: Defend freedom of religion

Blaming the Umno-led Barisan Nasional government for fuelling hatred and religious intolerance to further their political agenda, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today condemned the latest attack on churches and the Christian community as a whole. He urged Malaysians to unite and fight against groups which fuel animosity and use religion to further their political agenda. ā€œWe must defend freedom of religion, ā€œ he said, adding that the current situation was a test of strength of all the religions and to those who believed in peace and mutual respect. ā€œWe must uphold rule 11 of the Federal Constitution which guarantees freedom of religion and the right of each community to secure the needs of their religious followers,ā€ just before meeting church leaders this evening - Agencies .

MCA president should shut his mouth

The MCA president today asked Pakatan Rakyat (PR) to stop blaming the Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN) for the recent church bomb attacks. Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat stressed that everybody must let the police handle the current situation. In fact Ong should shut his mouth and not create anymore statements. Right now the MCA leadership crisis is deepening with repective factions in the party intensifying their onslaught against each other over the intended party re-election. Therefore, Ong should put his house in order first before he is fit enough to make a national statement pertaining to the current issues. If you cannot even put your party in order, how can you expect the people to listen and respect your statements? So, go back and sweep your home first, please!

Anwar takes 'reluctant' cops to task, security lapsed

Opposition Leader and PKR Advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has criticised the police force for their 'reluctance' to guarantee the safety of churches. We fully support Datuk Seri Anwar's statement due to the fact that the police are mere political security organ for Umno and the BN federal government. Todate the police had yet to identify and make any arrest on those who are responsible for the coordinated bomb attacks against churches in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Melaka and now Sarawak. The force had demonstrated their ineffectiveness in ensuring the security and safety of the people and their places of worship. Besides, crime activities in our country had also increased dramatically. And despite rooping in the police volunteer reserves and the Rela personnel to assist, there is still no improvement at all, which shows that the criminals and now the terrorists are no more afraid of our country's security forces. Right now, who will be able to guarantee the securit...

More churches attacked in Perak, Melaka and Sarawak, next target?

Despite assurance from the home ministry and the police force that they will go after the terrorist groups who attacked the churches with bombs, more and more churches are being attacked with the latest happened in Perak, Melaka and Sarawak, but so far, no casualties were reported. According to the home minister and the nation's police chief, the ISA will be used against those who are responsible for the bomb attacks on the churches but todate, no action nor arrest were carried out, which reflects the ieffectiveness of the security administration in this country. Even the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan had earlier pushed the security burden back to the respective churches reasoning that the police's lack of manpower to ensure the safety of all churches. The police had thousands of men attached to the special branch to undertake the political security for Umno leaders and the BN federal government machineries but they are lack of manpower and resources to ensure...

Show your sincerity, Muslim NGOs told. No more room for terrorism and the barbarians

Some of the key Muslim NGOs who organised the mass protests and demonstrations last Friday suddenly offered their assistance recently to provide the so-called "volunteer guards" to help defend churches from being boombed again. This ultimate tune was quite surprising, seeing that in the protests and demonstrations last week, these groups hurled threats, barbaric and abusive jargons against us on the usage of the Allah word in public and now they are turning around like ejecting a DVD played with a new DVD being put by saying that they wanted to help us to protect the churches from the threats of further bombings. We want to ask them, where is their sincerity? What is your primary intention of doing so? Are you all really going to repent for the sins that you have done on other religions in the name of supremacist upheld by Umno? Are you going to tell us that, you did not know the protests and demonstrations had turned out to be violent, barbaric and extreme to the extend chur...

International Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination

In order to join and rectify the International Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, countries must comply and abide by one of the most important articles state below : Article 5 In compliance with the fundamental obligations laid down in article 2 of this Convention, States Parties undertake to prohibit and to eliminate racial discrimination in all its forms and to guarantee the right of everyone, without distinction as to race, colour, or national or ethnic origin, to equality before the law, notably in the enjoyment of the following rights: (a) The right to equal treatment before the tribunals and all other organs administering justice; (b) The right to security of person and protection by the State against violence or bodily harm, whether inflicted by government officials or by any individual group or institution; (c) Political rights, in particular the right to participate in elections-to vote and to stand for election-on the basis of universal and equal...

Najib said Umno not a racist party, but we say it is!

Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today reiterated that Umno is not a party that practised racism and never had any intention to grab power from other races in the country. Instead, he said, Umno had always upheld the principle of wanting to be fair to all. ā€œAs Muslims were are guided by the teachings of the Quran whereby God commanded that if in leading or punishing, it must be done fairly to all,ā€ he said. But we insist you are racist! Clearly a racist due to the fact that everything from your party to various government policies. The evidence are clear and you cannot deny it. If you said Umno had always upheld the principle of wanting to be fair to all, which part of your policies mentioned that? Again if you said Umno had upheld the principle of wanting to be fair to all, then rectify and endorse the provisions and conditions laid down by the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD). We want to ask Najib and...

Another church attacked, IGP said churches must set up their own security

Terrorists attempted to set fire to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church here, causing minor damage to the building, the fourth Klang Valley Christian church attacked over two days. Church authorities said the building in Petaling Jaya Old Town was believed to be firebombed sometime between last night and this morning. ā€œThe fire-bomb missed a window and caused minor damage,ā€ said Rev Dr Hermen Shastri, the general-secretary of the Council of Churches, Malaysia. And after that, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan urged all churches to beef up security on their own because with its limited manpower the police cannot ensure security at all houses of worship. Just exactly Tan Sri Musa is trying to tell us? He said the police manpower is limited and he cannot provide total security for the churches to prevent them from being attacked. But he has enough and a lot of manpower nationwide to curb the activities of the opposition Pakatan Rakyat and their leaders. This is clearly a total...

Three Christian churches fire-bombed, Umno must take full responsibility on the violence and chaos

The Metro Tabernacle church in Desa Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, has been fire-bombed in an attack that gutted its ground floor early this morning. Another two churches in Petaling Jaya have also been attacked in the past 12 hours. Umno president and PM Najib Razak said fingers should not be pointed at Umno for the attacks on three churches in Kuala Lumpur. Remember on 7 January, Najib Razak has defended his governmentā€™s decision to allow angry Muslim groups to hold a nationwide protest against the "Allahā€ ruling, saying they have every right to do so. We would like Najib to explain his earlier explanation supporting these extremist "terrorist" groups to hold a nationwide protest which eventually, today lead to the bombing of three churches in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya respectively. Umno, BN and the federal government which are all chaired by Najib are all double standard and hypocrites in their policies and rules on our nation and our people. We are gravely shocked and ...

DAPSY calls for Royal Commission of Inquiry on the F5 jet engines theft scandal

The Malaysian public is not convinced that the charges against Royal Malaysia Air Force (RMAF) sergeant N. Tharmendran and company director K. Rajandran Prasad at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court on Wednesday in connection with the missing F5 jet engines have solved the latest scandal plaguing the Barisan Nasional administration. The charge against only a low-ranking officer has even strengthened the negative perception of the public that the government is trying to cover up the scandalous theft. Nobody in their right mind can be convinced that such a theft of an important component at our security bases can be carried out without the knowledge of the higher superiors. Is the government suggesting that the security level of our air force bases are so inferior that a low-ranking officer can easily steal our fighter jet engines worth RM100 million without being detected for nearly 2 years? If thatā€™s the case, Malaysians have all the reasons to feel insecure and lose confidence on the gov...

Malaysia's most shameful episode, a failed and declining nation

Malaysia's most shameful episode is about to begin this Friday with massive demonstration and street rallies that are scheduled to be held nationwide by Umno-linked Muslim based non-governmental organisations (NGO) to show that the word "Allah" belongs only to them. Indeed a most shameful episode in history. What will the investors, both existing and potential ones say then? Well, the existing ones will observe the current situation with careful analysis before making their next move, while the potential ones will immediately close their books and take their money away to somewhere else. Umno and its Muslim-based NGOs are scaring away foreign investors for fear of growing and emerging influences of the Umno-backed Islamic radicalism. As the result, the economy of our nation is not going to grow at all. It will either decline or stay as it is with no further development. And this is what Umno wants. To weaken our people so that they could continue to vest control over our ...

PAS supports, Marina said its a "knee jerk" reaction, Dompok got historical back up, but Nazri said judge was wrong

After a special meeting to discuss a recent controversial court ruling, PAS has decided to reiterate its stand that the use of the word Allah by Christians was not against Islam and in accordance with the federal constitution which guarantees religious freedom. "As a responsible Islamic body, PAS is ready to explain this issue to all parties in order to ensure a harmonious environment that is based on the principles of fairness such as is guaranteed in the constitution and by Islam itself,ā€ PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said in a statement issued after a three-hour long discussion. He also called on all parties not to politicise the matter as this could threaten the peace among the different religious groups in the country. ā€œWe would like to state that based on Islamic principles, the use of the word Allah by the people of the Abrahamic faiths such as Christianity and Judaism, is acceptable,ā€ Hadi said. ā€œPAS strongly objects to any aggressive and provocative approach that can lea...

Humanity and equality

In Malaysia, do we actually have humanity or equality, politically, democratically, rightfully in a just environment? Of course, most of us would say yes without thinking and analyzing the question deeper to gain a bigger picture into this subject. Well, to find out more about this, let us start off with something basic first. Our country called Malaysia is a nation rule by a constitutional monarchy which we would address his majesty as Yang Di Pertuan Agong or the King. The King is elected for a five year term by a Council of Rulers (Majlis Raja-raja) which consists of Sultans and Governors (Yang Di Pertua Negeri) who overseas their respective states under the guidance of their menteris besar and chief ministers. In accordance to the federal and state constitutions, the King, Sultans and Governors acts on advice of their respective statesā€™ menteris besar and chief ministers. Therefore, the role of the King, Sultans and Governors are mere constitutional, whereas the menteris besar and ...

Shape up or be shipped out, cops told

We are now in the year 2010, the beginning of 2010 with many of us making our New Year resolutions aiming to develop and improve ourselves. Many of us also made our New Year wish to have a peaceful, democratic, just and fair nation to be in. Our wish to have a crime free nation is also on our list. But we know, a nation with a one hundred percent crime free is impossible, and that is why we are always praying and hoping that the crimes in our streets can be reduced as much as possible in order for us to enjoy a safe and peaceful environment. However today, the crime rate is increasing. The criminals are getting more sophisticated then our police personnel. These bad guys are often even more equipped than our policemen. Besides, they also know very well of our police forceā€™s operational schedules and patrols. So, what had our Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM) being doing all these while? They cannot even defeat the notorious ā€œmat rempitā€ gangs in our streets and those snatch thieves who had ...

Charge air force general for treason

The federal government and the defense ministry should charge in court the air force brigadier-general and his forty men who stole the fighter jet engines for treason and threat against our countryā€™s national security. What are they waiting for? According to the prime minister as well as the defense minister, they promised to tell all and reveal to the public of their investigation and those whom they had detained and arrested for the theft. But we have yet to see any results till now. Who are the culprits? Who are those who had collaborated with the foreigners to steal our countryā€™s military equipments? Is the federal government sincere in letting all of us know what had happened and transpired since 2007? Why only now, they had decided to reveal this case to the public? Are they going to reveal what had actually happened in 2007, 2008, 2009 and now 2010? Or they will just reveal only what had happened in 2009 and cover up the rest from 2007 to 2008 in order not to embarrass the leade...
