About Me

W.H.Cheng, MBA, BBA

I am just an ordinary Malaysian who want a better Malaysia, the one that is run by a clean government that respects the people, human rights and the rule of law, that does not politicize the issues of race, religion and the rulers.

For more than six decades, our nation has been ruled endlessly by a dominant political coalition called the National Front (BN) which had overran the treasury until our nation’s coffer almost went bankrupt. Kleptocracy was all time a usual business for the then ruling coalition until when its biggest scandal erupts and then, at one glance, it was finally defeated in that very general elections after many of us decided whatever it costs, the vote must be casted in order to take them off the governing seat.

Another political coalition, Alliance of Hope (PH), then took over after its victory and managed our nation for about twenty two months. During the almost two-year period, the new ruling coalition ran into many hiccups as the results of being new in federal governance and practical policy making, plus faced with numerous challenges in its attempt to uproot the many conservative rules, laws, mindsets, attitudes and practices which has been in place for six decades. Hard to change, yes, it was true and the fact that such would need to take another ten more years to deal with because it has been entrenched in the way of life within the entire institution then.

Nevertheless, PH did managed some institutional reforms in the governing machineries, state-owned enterprises, reforming the legislature system and came out with various measures that saw democratic participation from the population increased.

Then, all a sudden, a minor component party from the ruling PH called PPBM, has decided to staged a rebellion against the PH leadership with the collaboration of the former ruling BN and another political coalition from the eastern province, GPS and a minor religious political party with radical stance, thus overthrowing the PH-led federal government and established a rebel government after a new coalition called National Alliance (PN) was gathered which include PPBM, a radical religious party, some minor parties from an eastern province, with the cooperation of two coalitions, BN and GPS.

Under the current PN-led rebel government, it has decided to reversed all reforms, policies and implementations that has been put in place by the then PH administration, imposing a new dictatorship by curbing the powers of the parliament, introducing new draconian laws and measures that threatened democracy and human rights, arresting, charging and imprisoning critics, opposition figures and civil society leaders.

And here it goes, another round of struggle that everyone of us has to undergo in order to bring about real reforms, good governance, fighting for our values, defending democracy and human rights, combating racism, religious extremism and corruption as well as to bring our new generation together to seek for the best path to cure and rebuild our nation and to emerge together as Malaysians!

I strongly believe in the social democratic ideas and values which can be adopted to change the way this nation is being managed. Let us all stop being one race, religion or another and begin our new chapter as Malaysians to push forward our true values for a New Malaysia!
