Ex-IGP's allegations ought to be probed

Recently, the former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hasan had alleged that there are a lots of political interference  and criminal elements within the police force during his tenure.

According to Musa, political interference include direct instructions were given by the Home Minister as well as the other cabinet ministers, while criminal elements include those crime bosses who had close connections with top political leaders and would go straight to the political channels whenever their henchmen got arrested or detained.

If Musa's claims are true, then the Home Minister ought to give an explanation onto all these allegations as it came from a retired top police official. How come Hishammuddin Hussein is still so quiet on this issue. So does the Prime Minister.

What about the current high command of the police force? Why are they also keeping so quiet on this? Are all these top people up there quietly admitting that there are really such thing happening in the police force and they did not even dare to deny the allegations for fear of more evidence would come up if the argument intensify in public.

This means political interference and criminal elements in the police force also warrants a thorough investigation from the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) as it is certain that corrupt practices are sure to exist in such situation. So, why isn't the MACC taking any action on those information? Because it was not reported, and that is why an investigation file could not be opened in order to proceed with the probe? Why can't the MACC act based on a serious information which has been made public?

And this is where the proposed Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) should come in to address such issues or highlight as all these involves public interests and the people ought to know what is going on as well. If the police force and its officials are proven to have been misbehave or commit any misconduct in their office, an independent body like the IPCMC ought to be set up to investigate all such negative elements in order to ensure the integrity and professionalism of the police force are maintained at all times.

We all know that the public perception on the police force has been extremely negative and if the BN government keep on insisting that the IPCMC is not necessary, then one day, nobody will even trust the police nor respect the law. Then when the society become lawless because of all these, is the BN government going to push all the blame onto the Opposition?

If the BN government cannot reform or make improvements on the police force, then we should consider an alternative channel in order to save our country from any future instability or chaos.
