Electoral Reforms Forgotten

Bersih 1.0 was over, Bersih 2.0 was over, then came Bersih 3.0, finally the BN government decided to put a stop on it by giving so many hope and promises. There it came, the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on Electoral Reforms. The prime minister and Umno president Najib Razak said the PSC could do it and pledged to carry out all those reforms as recommended by the PSC then.

As weeks after weeks, months after months, we are all have been waiting and waiting, hoping and hoping that the prime minister would give us something special - to implement all those electoral reforms as recommended by their very own PSC (yes, the majority in the committee were BN men, Najib's own men were in control). Then, suddenly came a big blast! Both the Election Commission (EC) chairman and his deputy were found to be members of Umno, the dominant race-based political party in the ruling BN coalition.

What did those two EC officials reply? They shook their heads and reason that they have not been paying for the membership subscription for a very long time, and had assumed that their names are no longer in the party membership list. Unfortunately, their names were still there. Then a Sabah EC deputy director of operations was also found to be an active Umno youth leader in the state, but that guy then deny his role in the Umno and responded that he had resigned long, long time ago. Funny, until last week his name was still mentioned in that Umno youth divisional committee as the wing's information chief.

So, does the EC expect the people to believe whatever they say now? Even the electoral reforms are not moving. Yes, they had made several announcements pertaining to the reforms and their plans, but the question here is, when are they going to carry out all those reforms? The 13th General Elections is coming soon. The 12th BN government's mandate will be expiring somewhere in the first quarter next year. Then, why is the EC still dragging the reforms even worst then a turtle? Is the BN government and EC sincere enough in carrying out those electoral reforms for our people?

Then suddenly, "SNAP ELECTIONS" would just pop out, that would eventually give a shock wave to the people and if someone were to complain, the BN government would just push the blame on the Oppositions for demanding for an early elections, and therefore, there would be insufficient time nor readiness to carry out all those electoral reforms. This is the excuse that the BN would certainly use in order to shield itself from the people's frustrations.

Those BN leaders up there are thinking that by prolonging and dragging the reforms, the people would soon forget about it, and when the people are forgetful, the reforms would then be forgotten just like that. But, don't forget, our Datuk S.Ambiga is still around, where her team are working tirelessly around the clock, around the nation to inform our people continuously that the BN government has yet to carry out all their promises. BN's "Janji Ditepati" has been "Mungkiri" and they are hoping that the people "Akan Lupai" all those cries for reforms.

BN, particularly Umno is working on it, to defend Putrajaya at all costs, even to an extend of their bodies being crushed and lives are lost.

No wonder everyone of us are praying for BN's downfall.
