Are BN MPs so afraid of Asset Declaration?

Recently, some BN members of parliament had expressed their "concerns" over the move to implement the declaration of assets in public for candidates who are selected to contest in the next general elections.

Well, their reasons and excuses, these are usual. They had said that before previously. Now they are reasoning that some parts of their assets are personal and could not be disclosed just like that. Previously, they had mentioned that the public declaration of their assets would bring harm to them and their family members because they would be targeted by organized crimes and syndicates.

Then, these BN MPs brought up the "failure" of Pakatan leaders to disclose their assets in public as they merely declared their personal ones but not their spouses and children at large, citing that such move by Pakatan leaders were being unfair to them if they too (those BN MPs) were to made their assets declarations public.

What a lame excuse. When the BN chairman wanted to implement such moves, they would give many lame excuses by saying these are unfair or whatsoever in order to avoid their overly gained assets from being exposed for public scrutiny. Yes, maybe all these BN MPs are afraid that their wealth from many unknown sources would be opened for public scrutiny or perhaps being labelled as corrupted because of such unnatural mass fortunes that they are having right now.

MPs and state assemblymen are public figures, elected by the people (as voters) in general elections to hold office, representing the people voice in the parliament and the state legislative assemblies. Therefore, whatever they are doing now are all of public concern and public interests. So does the ministers and state executive councillors (Exco members). They are all responsible to the people and not to themselves.

If they say that the asset declaration should only be carried out within the cabinet, party central committee and the state administration framework, only they themselves would know, but not the people. Would that be fair to the people then, since it is the people who are paying the income taxes every year in order to provide salaries for these elected representatives to carry out their duties and responsibilities for the public?

Definitely it is unfair to the people. The people elected their representatives and they have no right to check and to ensure that their elected representatives are really carrying out their duties and responsibilities in accordance to the people's mandates.

These BN MPs are not sincere enough in having their assets declared publicly. If they think that their assets are too personal to be made public, then resign from their offices as members of parliament and go into private life, only then nobody would even bother who you are.
