The Federal Constitution forgotten

The Federal Constitution or Perlembagaan Persekutuan is indeed a secular set of laws to govern our nation called Malaysia. It is truly a Secular set of laws established by our country's forefathers in order to ensure all Malaysians enjoy their rights as citizens of this country.

What most of us are confused today are because it was made to be confused by majority of the current leaders of the federal government in wake of their declining powers and influences in aftermath of the last 8 March 2008 general elections.

Just because these bunch of federal leaders of the Barisan Nasional (BN) dominated by the United Malays National Organization (Umno) are seeing their powers and influences declining and the emerging new opposition coalition called Pakatan Rakyat (PR) which consist of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Democratic Action Party (DAP) and the moderate Islamic Party (PAS) are gaining its grounds and supports even faster than expected, the BN and Umno leaders are now in a very desperate situation.

The only solution is that the BN and Umno leaders could do while still in power is to sweep our country's Federal Constitution under their carpet and declare Malaysia an Islamic state and that only one race has the right over the entire nation and they started to jargon the supremacist or ketuanan ideas in order to regain support that they lost in the last general elections.

These BN and Umno leaders had by now mobilized their propaganda machines nationwide to discredit the nature of our Federal Constitution by emphasizing on the supremacist position of one race and religion over the others whom we called non-Bumiputras.

Just because of their overly desperation to remain in power for the rest of their life, they had even resorted to sideline the other segments of the Bumiputra communities in this country particularly the Orang Asli tribes in the peninsular and Dayaks, Iban, Murut, Kadazan, Dusun in Sabah and Sarawak respectively. They are working very hard to ensure these segment of Bumiputra communities are kept at the very bottom level away from the social economic developments, like basics - water, electricity, education, scholarships, loans and human rights, voting rights, free information, freedom of speech, etc, etc, etc.

That is why today, our children the younger generations of today did not know what is the Federal Constitution and what is the purpose of such documentation for our country. What is in our educational system of today are merely emphasizing on study to memorize and to study in order to obtain a job and income, that is all. Nothing were brief nor taught about the establishment and the framework of the administration of our country.

The results are the younger generations of today are completely blinded about their basic and fundamental rights as affirmed in our Federal Constitution.

Today, we are also impressed by works initiated by a group of young lawyers who are active in the Bar Council national committee and its programmes to reintroduce the Federal Constitution to our people, particularly the younger and newer generations in order to enshrine them with the knowledge and their fundamental rights they are supposed to aware and use in accordance to the highest law of our country.

We congratulate them for their tireless efforts to save our Malaysians from being continuously denied by the current federal administration of their rights of truly being a citizen.

Let us all come together to help Save our Federal Constitution.
