DPMPP president failed to perform as councillor
The Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMPP) president Rizal Faris Mohideen had in fact failed to perform his duties as a Penang Municipal Councillor from May 2008 to February 2009.
The Penang Pakatan Rakyat state government still appointed him as a councillor eventhough they knew that he is an Umno member, but he was respected by virtue of his leadership in DPMPP then.
Unfortunately, he was not reappointed for another term because he failed to perform his duties as a municipal councillor. Of all the 97 council meetings, Rizal only attended 3 of it; as the chairman of the council's night markets and traders committee, he was absent in most of the committee meetings; never attended any of the 13 finance committee meetings; for development planning committee, out of 7 meetings he only attended once, and for the public health committee, which is relevant and important to talk about traders he only attended 4 out of the 9 meetings.
During his tenure as a municipal councillor, he has every opportunities and chances to voice various grouses and problems highlighted by the traders and hawkers, if any during the council meeting and in his capacities in several council sub-committees but he did not do so.
Instead, Rizal was absent or should we say absconded from most of the council and various sub-committee meetings, including one important panel of which he was a chairman. He had every effective channels and opportunities to speak and voice out concerns and problems during his tenure but he did not do so.
Therefore, how can he claim to have been fighting for the Malay traders when his performance as a municipal councillor is so lousy and not up to standard? The reason he was dropped was he did not perform at all.
And now Rizal is turning around blaming the state government that the Malay community had been sidelined in every sector. When he was with the state government for one term, he did not even speak a word of "marginalization of Malays" in his capacity as the DPMPP president.
He is playing politics out of this because of so many reason. First, he is an Umno member and due to that he may want to advance his career in the party. Second the DPMPP elections will be held this year and as his term as president is coming to an end, he wanted to create something as a "defender of the Malays" in order to seek re-election as DPMPP president and the third reason was, he was angered by the fact that he was not reappointed as a municipal councillor for the second term.
And then when the federal level Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (MCCM) leadership send a working delegation to Penang to check the facts with the state government, he criticised them for bypassing him in his capacity as DPMPP president and because of this, he went over to the Penang International Airport to threatened some of the MCCM leaders for their alleged interference in his "Penang affairs".
Such an uncivilized man he is!
