Doubts Still Arise at EC and Electoral Lists
The parliament has been dissolved, the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat (Pakatan) as well as the other political parties are gearing up for what we called, the mother of all general elections. The Elections Commission (EC) is due to announce the dates of the nomination day and the general elections (GE13).
The major obstacles here are, many of those problems, such as duplication of voters (appeared in two different constituencies), phantom voters, unknown voters, dead voters, voters being illegally transferred, illegal immigrants registered as voters, fake voters, incorrect or inaccurate voters list, questionable postal voters, voters who got their names missing from the electoral lists and many more. Until todate, EC is still sitting on all these problems, perhaps they have been swept under the carpet by now.
Worst of all, 500,000 Filipinos and Indonesians are being registered as voters in Sabah, mysterious increase of total number of voters in Selangor, listed with voters with unclear addresses, voters with suspicious names, and a lot more. The EC is just turning a blind eye on all these complaints and findings, citing that these facts are unjustifiable and cannot be proven.
In this case, is there any integrity in EC in handling the GE13? Well, we are just hoping that the assigned NGOs (Bersih 3.0, Mafrel, ABU, IDEAS, etc), foreign observers and polling agents would assist as much as possible in order to provide some kind of checks onto what are these EC and their officials are up to, otherwise, we will have yet another fraudulent general elections.
What now? The crisis is far from being over. The EC website is now totally downed and out of order, which means, many of these new voters and overseas Malaysians who wanted to have some clearer pictures or information on the voting procedures would be definitely frustrated with nothing to guide them through. Worst still, the Malaysian embassies and high commissions abroad are also uncooperative in certain aspects related to the current situation. What has EC done to easy all these problems? They didn't do anything at all and by now, if you ask more questions, they will certainly respond to you that they are "very busy".
Because of all these obstacles, blockades, problems and doubts which are still haunting us, it is now up to our people here, the already registered voters to realize the facts and to exercise their wisdom in the coming general elections in order to change this deteriorating situation for a good and better condition.
So, let us all exercise our rights wisely and with wisdom to ensure such changes take place for the betterment of our people and the nation.
