PBS, UPKO and PBRS should leave BN to prove they are really adamant!

The intrusion of Lahad Datu, Sabah by the Sulu terrorists from the Southern Philippines is all over, but yet to be settled. The Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the illegal immigrants scandal in Sabah has been put onhold on grounds of "security and public safety" and no date has been fixed on when the RCI should resume.

The non-Muslim community which forms the majority in the state, the Kadazandusun Muruts (KDM) community are now fearing that their status as owner of their lands would soon erode following the influx of almost half of million of these immigrants into Sabah, be it legal or illegal, but it is certain that the percentage of the illegals are rather high.

Recently, the three KDM-based Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organization (UPKO) and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) has "united" in demand that all citizenship documents granted to those in Sabah be revoked and reissued to only those who are really qualified to be citizens.

The party presidents, Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan (PBS), Datuk Bernard Dompok (UPKO) and Tan Sri Joseph Kurup (PBRS) had made the joint statement to demand on the above implementation in a recent KDM gathering in Sabah.

However, Umno supreme council member and minister in the prime minister's department in-charge of legal matters, Datuk Nazri Aziz had rejected the three leaders of the BN KDM-based component parties' demand on grounds of legal complications.

Datuk Nazri's rejection on the said demand had also further raise doubts on whether the RCI on this case would resume its investigation on the scandal and how soon the hearing session would reconvene.Where is the BN federal government's direction on this is also unknown to-date.

Datuk Dompok, one of the leader of the three BN KDM-based component party is sticking to his demands and he was adamant to become the first one to surrender the documentations on his citizenship. Datuk Dompok had also repeated his demand yesterday to recall and review all citizenships issued in Sabah.

The Umno-led BN federal government has rejected their calls for the said implementation. So, what is the use of being so adamant to surrender one's documents in order to take the leadership by example characteristic? If such implementation were to be carried out, rest assure, Sabah Umno would definitely lose in the next general elections (GE13). In this case, would they be so foolish enough to carry out such such implementation as demanded by the three BN KDM-based component parties?

We wish to state one more reminder to three party presidents,  Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan (PBS), Datuk Bernard Dompok (UPKO) and Tan Sri Joseph Kurup (PBRS), if all of you and your party members are also adamant to get this issue settle once and for all, have a political will resign from all your government positions and take PBS, UPKO and PBRS out of the BN coalition at once without even a single thought of going back into that scandal tainted coalition.

The real problem here is, are they ready to take up this sacrifice to relinquish their government positions in order to prove to the KDM community that they are sincere in fighting for their community's cause. How are the KDM community going to trust you when you are making all those demands while you are still in the BN coalition holding government positions and sitting together with all those Umno leaders? To be harsh in order to make our message clear, "where are your guts" in doing this, for the KDM community at large, the community to where you three belonged?

Are you wiling to forsake the status and future of your community into the hands of those political robbers and terrorists in order to ensure your personal interests are being taken care of? The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) under the leadership of its party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee has taken the lead to quit the BN coalition few years ago in order to pursue justice for the Sabahan.

So does Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, the chairman of the Sabah branch of the State Reform Party (STAR) who has been looking high and low all this while in order to seek the best political platform for his Sabah and Borneo cause.

How many leaders in PBS, UPKO and PBRS would be able to forgo their political differences among themselves and to work together with SAPP and STAR on a common ground to bring Sabah back to its rightful owner, the Sabahans?

To the leaders of PBS, UPKO and PBRS again, be man enough to prove your worth to your people!
