Fatwa Committee declares some protests haram
The BN government's National Fatwa Committee (NFC) has decided that it is "haram" for Muslims to be present or to participate in any gathering or demonstration that is unproductive, "against the law" and creating "disturbance" to the country, such as the recently held Bersih 3.0.
But sad to say that the NFC had in fact overlooked some other matters or issues which are far more disgusting like the police brutality, corruptions, mismanagement, power abuse, tampering of electoral lists, violence, racism, threats and so on.
To those in the NFC, please come up steadfastly on these negative elements. Are they all "haram" or "halal"? Why isn't there any fatwa being issued onto police brutality, corruptions, mismanagement, power abuse, tampering of electoral lists, violence, racism and threats? Or even terrorism? All these are deemed to be unproductive, against the law and do also create disturbance to our nation's economy and stability.
Can NFC also define if demonstrations or protests which seek to eliminate police brutality, corruptions, mismanagement, power abuse, tampering of electoral lists, violence, racism and threats in this country are "haram" or "halal"? If "haram" in what sense? And if "halal" in what sense? All these need to be properly and accurately justified in the manner that not only Muslim but also non-Muslim would understand and happy to accept it as a "way of life".
And if the NFC cannot even justify the fatwas that are issued on political motivation, then it is confirmed that the entire NFC organization is some sort of political motivated, particularly by Umno, thus making and resulting to the NFC being a political tool instead of a purely religious body aim at promoting and advancing the Islamic values.
We urge the NFC officials to come up clean on such issues and not misleading the people on the other hand. If you are not certain, then go back to your basics to seek for the truth! Did you want us to teach you how?
Islam is a very good religion. Don't make it otherwise.
