Cops to begin crack down on Bersih 3.0 but who will act against errant cops?
The police today had released a list of 49 persons wanted in connection with their participation of the recently concluded Bersih 3.0 which was held in Dataran Merdeka on 28th April 2012 last week.
Looks like the police would begin their witch hunting all those who gathered for Bersih 3.0 soon, starting with 49 persons identified via various pictures and it is expected that more arrests would soon take place.
The problem is, the police will commence their crack down on our people soon, but who will then "crack down" on all those errant police personnel and officers who did all sorts of action which are against the law and human rights? Is there any independent source that would professionally validate and verify that all necessary actions has been taken against all those indiscipline policemen for their negative actions on that day? The answer is no. There is none.
Yes, we heard the police top officials said so many times in their press release that they would also go after all those errant policemen who had gone out of control on that day which include police brutality, police violence, using live ammunitions against unarmed people, driving police patrol cars against the crowd thus endangering the people's life without any reasons whatsoever and so on.
That is why this nation is in need of an Independent Police Complaints and Misconducts Commission (IPCMC) to conduct all kinds of investigations and public inquiries against the misdeeds of the police force. Right now, whom could we trust to ensure the police force also adhere by the law, order and the human rights charter?
