Withdrawal of Election Offences Amendment Bill, EC blamed Bersih and Opposition
The Elections Commission (EC) deputy chairman Wan Ahmad Wan Omar was angry when the federal government has decided to withdraw the Election Offences Amendment Bill until he put all the blame on the Bersih 3.0 and the Opposition parties.
We wish to ask this Wan Ahmad, when this Bill was drafted earlier, did he know that who are the stakeholders that he or the EC must consult? Whoever it is, be it the BN, Pakatan Rakyat, social interest groups, NGOs, human rights groups and all those who are of 21 years old and above are all stakeholders. Why wasn't any or all the stakeholders are consulted?
Since when did the EC function like a secret society with absolute powers to make changes as and when and what it feel suited to do, according to their liking? We only got to know that one of the ridiculous provision was also included into the amendment of the Bill which "gives the EC privacy inside the election process". So that they are at liberty to cheat and do whatever they ant without the observation of anyone? Wow! That would be great if this amendment were to got it through then.
Wan Ahmad mentioned that Bersih and the Opposition spun the Bill.. Who actually did the spinning? We all know that. It was actually EC who are doing all the spinning with the directives from Umno. That is why you could all see all those suspicious names appear in the electoral rolls, our people's names went missing or got transferred to other locations without the voters' knowledge, illegal immigrants appear in the electoral lists, some people with dubious identities, some people whose details are being hijacked and named as another person and a lot more.
Recently, even a Bersih committee member was reported to had his name removed from the electoral lists because he is already pronounced "dead" by the EC. The other reported case was a Chinese woman's photograph as per her MyKad was hijacked and used in another Mykad but with a name of a Malay man.
Has the EC come up in a clean and transparent manner to resolve all such proven irregularities within the EC and its managed electoral lists so far? The answer is none. Then, who is actually doing all those spinning all these years?
The worst thing is Wan Ahmad and even his boss (the EC chairman, Abd Aziz Mohd Yusof) are both registered and card-carrying Umno members. That is the worst thing of all. The credibility and integrity of the EC as well as the entire organization, together with its commissioners and staffs had completely gone into the graveyard since day one. There is nothing more for the EC justify to the people that they are being neutral, free from any political influences, or whatsoever. It has been completely tarnished.
The other issue is, both the Abd Aziz and Wan Ahmad should be considered as had committed a treason or "derhaka" against the Yang Dipertuan Agong as both of them had failed to reveal that there are actually Umno members when they receive their royal appointment (watikah perlantikan) from the king. Both of them had indeed cheated the king during the process.
In this case, a tribunal ought to be established to put these two men on trial for breaching the code of ethics and order of the civil service as well as treason against the king. Well Umno and BN would not dare to do this as if this were to be carried out, these two men is certain to spill out all the beans during the trial.
"What else do you want?", asked Wan Ahmad. Don't you know or have you forgotten? We want both Abd Aziz and you to step down immediately from your positions as EC chairman and deputy chairman to pave way for the EC to be completely revamped. We all do not want both of you at helm of EC anymore. You are fired and get lost!
