Felda's "durian runtuh". Was it real?

Yesterday, the prime minister and Umno president Najib Razak has announced a typical "durian runtuh" of RM1.7 billion for all the Felda settlers to enjoy. Yes, he saw the crowd, they were all happy then. He thinks that they are all stupid, ignorant and money can buy anything. Well, this is his assumption anyway.

Since the Najib and Felda chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad (who was previously found guilty of money politics) had choose to empty Felda's treasury before the its public listing, what is the worth of the company after listing then? What will it convince the investors to buy its shares?

In public view, it is like you are stripping the cash and assets of the company.

Remember, once Felda is listed, they are going to receive all those money from the public. What then if the public buy the Felda shares, and when Felda's piggy bank got filled up again, Najib would decide to throw out the cash again, come the 13th general elections.

And when Najib do that, will Felda able to let the public know in detail of all its accounting transactions, fixed and current assets, current liabilities and so on as required by the Companies Act for a public listed company?

After disbursing out the entire RM1.7 billion to all the Felda settlers, what then is left in Felda and do they have enough money to declare the next dividend in the first place? We wonder what kind of ventures Felda would be up to with this Tan Sri Isa at helm. Let us see what he could come up with in his plan.

The other issue is rather funny and suspicious. According to Najib, it is RM15,000 per family and the disbursement would be RM5,000 each for the husband, wife and the child. What if the couple has more than one child? Why should the disbursement be separately given out? You don't trust the husband to manage the entire RM15,000 or you don't trust both the husband and wife to manage the entire sum, that is why the last portion was given to the child. Again, what if the couple has more than one child? How are you going to handle such situation?

Now talking about the rights and hard work of these Felda settlers who had toiled their lands from 20 to 35 years, why only worth simply RM15,000 for each household? Where did the rest of the cash and profits went to? Yes, into the pockets of all those Umno ruling elites, their families or should we say "golongan bangsawan". That's for sure!

We urge the Felda settlers to think first before they vote and see what are they really getting right now. Think the long term, how long have you work for, how big is your land and its worth, how did you manage both your family and the business, etc, etc. Why are you worth only RM15,000? Where are the rest? Did you get all the information pertaining to Felda's investments and how was the money being roll out, the income and expenditures and so on.

Furthermore, Felda is still being managed like a "secret society" and these settlers would not even have the opportunities to access what is being done or being currently carried out in its accounts. Why? Because Najib still thinks that they are all stupid, ignorant and money can buy everything. That's the fact!
