What is wrong with EC duo as Umno members? This is what Dr M says!

Recently, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad brushed aside calls from the opposition front for both Elections Commission (EC) chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof and his deputy chairman Wan Ahmad Wan Omar to resign from their respective positions in the EC as soon as possible.

Dr Mahathir asked, "What is wrong with these to EC men being Umno members?" Looks like Dr Mahathir is sending a negative message across the nation and the international community as well. It has been confirmed that aside from Abdul Aziz and Wan Ahmad, there are also other senior civil servants up there who are also card-carrying Umno members.

Could it be the Inspector-General of Police as well, or the Lord President (of the Judiciary) or even the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner? What about the Datuk Bandar of Kuala Lumpur? Are these serving senior civil servants Umno members too? This is what we need to check as well.

Now, coming back to the EC duo as Umno members, since Dr Mahathir has confirmed that these two guys were in fact Umno members as it has been seen and proven, he was giving the public impression that there are also some misdeeds being carried out in the EC machinery.

Look at the Project IC in Sabah, which saw a very suspicious continuous increase of voters in great numbers in the state for so many years. Asides, the existence of phantom voters in parliamentary and state constituencies which are currently being held by opposition elected-representatives. Look at the yet to be verified increase of voters in opposition rule states like Selangor and Penang states as well as in Kuala Lumpur.

Apart from that, there are also quite a large numbers of complaint from voters that their voting stations has been systematically shifted to other areas or locations which is not known to that victim at all. We had even heard and seen that voters complaining that their names has been struck off the electoral lists because they are already "dead". There are even names of voters with suspicious names and addresses, where the names of the said voters who do not seem to be Malaysian.

In this case, can we say that there are a lots of Umno members currently working in the EC right now, since both its chairman and deputy chairman are also Umno members?

To-date, the EC had yet to verify such negative elements within the electoral lists despite so many complaint, findings and exposures.  The public as voters have their rights to know what is happening in the EC and what are they up to.

If the EC cannot even clean up itself, than the entire organization itself is dirty. In this case, we need independent scrutiny and international observers to come into this country to ensure the next general elections is being carried out in a free and fair manner. All electoral lists are to be put out for public viewing and to be validate by these international observers prior to the commencement of any elections.

If the opposition were to come to power after the next general election (let's say, simple majority), the first thing they ought to do is to take the EC out from the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Department and put it under the direct scrutiny of the Parliament. Same goes to the appointment of the EC commissioners.
