Ex-IGP should reveal all in political interference in the police force

This is indeed very, very surprise move made by the former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Musa Hassan. According to him, during his tenure as IGP, ministers frequently interfere with police investigations and arrests, a practice that continues even up to today.

On of those ministers who has been always been interfering in many police investigation and arrests was none other than the home minister and Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein but Musa did not name the other ministers who are also involve. The present IGP Tan Sri Ismail Omar is considered as a yes-man.

Among kinds of interference in police works include, direct orders or instructions usually came from officials from the home ministry, the minister's private secretary and political secretary, ministers of other portfolios. Apart from that, in many occasions, police officers below the IGP received instructions directly from the above, thus bypassing the IGP himself.

In this case, we would urge Musa to reveal whatever he knew to the public in order to scrutinize the entire home ministry and the police force as well. Mentioning only Hishammuddin as one of the culprit isn't sufficient, being one of the top brass in the police previously and should he really experience such interference that is jeopardizing the professionalism of the police force and the public safety as well, Musa should take the initiatives to tell all.

We as taxpayers ought to know what is happening around the civil service as it is we are the ones who are paying the salaries of these civil servants. If Musa's statement is found to be true, it would clearly show that the ruling political elites in the BN had indeed misused their powers to their own political ambitions.

And that is why, all these years, the police are only going after opposition leaders and the civil rights NGOs but not on those real law breakers who are from the ruling BN, particularly Umno and their funded NGOs like Perkasa, Pekida or Pekembar.

Musa, kindly reveal whatever you know in order for the public to scrutinize. If it is really all those Umno's dirty work in the police force, then we should be able to make our decisions accurately come next general elections.
