BN's subsidy cuts. Are they really reforms?

Recently the Umno-led BN federal government had announced several subsidy cuts to be implemented very soon. According to the prime minister who is also the Umno president, the implementations will be carried out very soon.

OK, we would like to ask the prime minister, does your subsidy cutting plans includes reforms on how the government spending is running? Just a little and simple example, are you really able to get rid of the "one calculator costs about RM250/unit" cases which were found blatantly wild in various government departments and agencies?

The other thing, is Najib able to get rid of all those Umno dominated contract jobs? A syndrome that all government contracts must be awarded to Umno branch and division chairmen. Because these Umno leaders who handle government contracts does not usually come clean.

About 98 percent, or should we say almost all Umno contractors who got the contracts awarded to them do not really perform those jobs on their own. They again subcontract it out to others and when that "others" began to subcontract it to the more "others", then those thing will get screwed up or most of the time undone. Is Najib really looking into all these misdeeds being made by his party's grassroot leaders?

Then corruption and power abuses in the federal government, its departments and agencies. As at today, they are still rampant. Most of us cannot see nor hearing it in the press, because they are covered up even if they are caught, but at times majority are not reported but given a mere warning. Because of no tough action taken, the corrupt practices continues and so does power abuses.

Lastly, (but not the final one as there are too many of those wrongs and abuses in the federal administration) is the efficiency of the departments and agencies. Najib's slogan "pencapaian diutamakan dan rakyat didahulukan" and all those so-called KPI measurements were aimed to enhance the efficiency in his government, but to-date, does that slogan successfully reach all levels of his government departments, divisions, agencies and the GLCs?

We think that the efforts to enhance the efficiency of the administration has not been carried out seriously. Majority of the civil servants still does not understand the required efficiency they need to serve the people. Most of them are still in their old thoughts (you know what are they like all these while).

So what is Najib really going to do about all these? Cutting subsidies according to your plans or time tables won't do any much to save your pocket or to prevent overspending in your government, unless you look deeper into the various loopholes that really take away government funds and cash.

It is the attitude of your administration that you need to look into. No matter how much you save but in the end if the negative attitudes of your administrators are going to continue, the funds you saved for your government is still going back right to the bottom.

These are just one small little part on the wrongdoings and negative elements in the Umno-led BN federal government. A lot more within the establishment are still rampantly on the rise which are too many to be accounted for.

If the Najib or the previous administrations were to be prudent and efficient enough, and if the MACC were to really carry out its duties and responsibilities without putting any sides, if the police and judiciary were to perform professionally and diligently, nobody will oppose their move to cut the subsidies. So don't blame us, the "Rakyat" for opposing you.

As such, please do not label us as ungrateful.
