Another coup d'etat in Kedah state?

Rumours are running high in the Kedah state of the possibility of another Umno engineered coup d'etat on its way after what they had done to Perak.

For this time, we would not know what is the state Umno up to. Will the coup d'etat end up in bloodshed or violent one? No one knows. But it is a must now, that everyone in the Kedah Pakatan Rakyat state government and the people as well, should get themselves ready for every possibilities that may come right in front of them.

First an Umno sponsored defection of some state assemblymen, secondly "by hook or by crook" method by using force to oust the state government, or maybe organizing yet another May 13 incident rallies in the state in order to provoke a racial like sentiments.

Then, they will bring in the security force in order to "crack down" the dissidents in the state and retake the state administration on grounds of national security. After that, when situation calm, the so-called "militia administration" will hand over the governance to Umno.

Why, because the Kedah state legislative assembly would have been suspended at that time.

What to do? Before the situation explodes, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak must act fast by calling for the dissolution of the state legislative assembly in order to pave way for a snap election to seek a fresh mandate from the people.

If you wait for the defections to come or by any means, should any attempt to destabilize the state in order to bring in the security force (by Umno), it will be too late for a remedy.

We urge Datuk Seri Azizan to act now, before another Umno rebellion becomes a reality. Do not let the tanks roll into Kedah.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

No action against YBs without speaker's consent

Penang assembly Speaker Law Choo Kiang said the police and attorney-general (AG) cannot prosecute any elected representatives for any wrongdoings committed in the House. Law said the authorities cannot act on the assemblypersons without the agreement of the speaker. "So this clearly cancels the (planned) charge against Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer for sedition under the 1948 Sedition Act," the PKR Bukit Tambun assemblyperson said in a statement yesterday. Law said a warning based on the assembly's standing orders has been issued to Rayer not to repeat the remark "Umno celaka" (damned Umno), which the latter allegedly uttered in the House on May 20.
