Even FAM curbs freedom of speech

As reported in one of the major press today, it seems the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is still suffering from the poor and deteriorating performance of its national team and it is now embroil in yet another problem where it even became a public outrage. The Article 88 of the FAM constitution states that only the FAM president or the secretary-general are entitle to comment on the performance of the national team to the media or press. The situation sounds like it curbs freedom of speech within its organization and group of affiliates in a manner that no one in the FAM are allow to speak up publicly. Apart from that, the Article 88 sanction also applies to all the office-bearers and committee members of the state level football associations who are affiliated to the federal-based FAM. What is wrong of giving some constructive criticism or comments when the entire national team is not performing as the required standard and expectation? We all know that the local football...

Bukankah para pemimpin Umno sangat sayang dan utamakan Proton?

Image
Alasannya, kita semua pun telah me...

Economy Will Not Be At Risk From a Weak Election Result

The prime minister, who is also the finance minister, Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and Umno president Datuk Najib Razak had issued a drastic warning that a reduced parliamentary majority for the BN could weaken his government's drive for the nation's economy, citing that the economy would be at risk if this happens in the next general elections (GE13). We would say his warning is based on political perception, as for more than 55 years of BN's ruling over the nation, the economic structure has became part of politics. Why do we say that? It is because during the BN's reign in our nation, corruption has been on the rise, so does cronyism where businesses or contracts are awarded not based on merit or track records but merely on political or the ruling elites' family relationship. Apart from this, within the government machinery itself, there are also full of mismanagement of public funds as well as expenditures for the administration. Just look at the governme...

Offer of a 10-minute censored airtime a joke

Recently, the minister of information, communications and culture Datuk Rais Yatim announced that the BN government-owned Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) would offer a 10-minute of pre-recorded airtime for the Opposition parties to present their electoral manifesto to the public during the general elections campaigning period. First of all, what a 10-minute airtime could do? Is this total airtime sufficient for each of the political parties to present their electoral manifesto? Yes, we knew BN component parties was also offered the same duration of the airtime, but it is already sufficient for them as they have been campaigning through all the available RTM channels all this while. Furthermore, such offer made by the minister does not conform to the freedom of media and press like what our people has been demanding since. We really wonder what is actual motive or intention behind the BN government in offering such a short piece of airtime which is also going to be pre-recorded a...

More disruptions at political events likely, warns Umno vice-president

Umno vice-president and home affairs minister Hishammuddin Hussein warned that more political ceramah disruptions are likely to take place in the soon-to-be 13th general elections (GE13). Well his statement in his capacity as the home affairs minister, taking charge of the police force and the public safety is such an unbecoming and he does not demonstrate his professionalism as a government minister. He is instead demonstrating his action more in the interest of his party rather than to the nation and our people at large. Obviously, we are very certain that everyone of us knew since from the beginning most of the Opposition political events and ceramahs are being disrupted by members of the Barisan Nasional (BN), particularly of those from Umno and its NGO-ally Perkasa. Just look at what happened to the Opposition campaign team who are on their rounds peacefully trying their level best to inform our people the actual political, social and economic situation of our nation. Their c...

Teng CY regretted attending "fake BN rally". Was he betrayed from within?

The Penang BN chairman and Gerakan secretary-general Teng Chang Yeow had mentioned that he should not have attended the so-called "Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu Pulau Pinang" if he had known the main organizer was the racist and extremist group Perkasa. In this way, Teng has admitted that he has regretted attending the rally, which was seen to have used the banner of Barisan Nasional (BN) as a cover-up. What we could tell Teng in this case was, he has been systematically cheated by Umno.It was understood that the organizers of the rally which also comprised of Perkasa had send invitation earlier via Umno who then extended the same to Teng in his capacity as state BN chairman, claiming that the rally has been organized by a group of NGOs in support of the BN for the upcoming general elections. But what awkwardly was seen in the crowd was mostly members of the Perkasa, Pekida and the other pro-Umno extremist groups. Only a small number of supporters from MCA, MIC, Gerakan and PP...

Is MCA still a viable party?

Image
The major problem here with MCA, is this Chinese-based political party who always claim to be the sole representative of the Chinese community in the government, still a viable party? Recently, the MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek has to resort to threatening the entire leadership of the Barisan Nasional (BN) with his resignation as party chief, should the current Pandan MP and former MCA president Ong Tee Keat were to be selected again to defend his constituency come next general election. Why has Dr Chua has to resort to such move or threat in order to pressure the BN leadership to withdraw their choice on Tee Keat? What we can assess over here is, the MCA is always subject to whatever Umno wants or prefer. Dr Chua nor MCA cannot even have their rights to spell out their own list of candidates to contest in the next general elections. If Dr Chua wishes to show and prove to the entire Chinese community that MCA is still relevant and can effectively represent the community, then ...

Is EC really sincere in implementing the postal voting?

After the three Bersih rallies, the Elections Commission (EC) has finally agreed reluctantly to some of the reforms demanded by the people and made many promises to carry out those changes as soon as possible. However, one after another, until today, we have yet to see any effective changes from the EC and it looks like that somebody up there might be trying to do something so that the entire process and reforms could be delayed until the next general elections (GE13). The most crucial one is involving the implementation of postal voting for our overseas Malaysians in order to allow them to vote in the GE13, be they students, professionals or business people, whatever it is, the most important thing here is, they are all still Malaysians, regardless of what ethnicity do they belongs to. Until today, there are still a lots of complaints from our overseas Malaysians who wanted to register themselves as postal voters for the upcoming GE13. Logistical constraints, many kinds of cond...

Did the BN coalition really promote unity?

We have a big question mark here. Did the Barisan Nasional (BN) a coalition of political parties currently ruling this nation really promote unity in this multiracial country of ours, be it socially, economically or politically? The answers that we got most, were a big No. The BN coalition which has been running this country for more than 55 years ago have never ever come up with an actual identity which would really identify all of us as Malaysians nor calling us Bangsa Malaysia instead of looking at our particular race or skin colour. In order to see what is really in the BN coalition, let us all check in on some of these BN component parties who has been dominating the coalition's politics all this while. UMNO : This party is actually called United Malays National Organization (Baru), a major dominant Malay-based political party in the BN coalition. Umno is a political party with only Malays in its membership, but of recently, it has amended its party constitution to allow ...

Sistem Dua Parti Akan Hadkan Demokrasi

Adakah kita inginkan suatu k...

BN terlalu takutkan Anwar Ibrahim.

Former premier calling for hate and racism to retake Selangor

Image
Recently, the former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad mentioned that Selangor must be saved from the Opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat who is currently governing the state as rights and positions of the Malays and Bumiputras in the state are being threatened by the later's current administration. Dr Mahathir also added that if the Opposition coalition continues to rule Selangor after the 13th general elections, the position of the Malays and Bumiputras are going to be shunted aside once and forever. What was Dr Mahathir trying to say to the people of Selangor was the Malays and Bumiputras would be pushed out from state of Selangor if Pakatan were to continue ruling the state. It looks like Dr Mahathir is using hatred and racism by urging all Malays and Bumiputras to rise against the current Selangor state government. It is certainly deemed as seditious, as he was trying to incite racial hatred so that chaos would take place in the state during the general elections. ...

Was there really a plot hatched by the BN government to cover-up something unclean?

Now, the former Sabah chief minister of the previous Berjaya state government Tan Sri Harris Salleh had just made a final plea to urge the authorities, particularly the police force not to confiscate the Mykads and other documentations from the citizens of Suluk origin in the state. According to him, the confiscation exercise could be part of the retaliation by the police in aftermath of the attacks by the armed Sulu terrorists in Lahad Datu which resulted to the death of their men. There are so much coincidence over here. And the situation is getting more complicated and confusing. First the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to Investigate the Illegal Immigrants in Sabah was established and during the RCI hearing, some people from the ground, be it Malaysians or the illegal immigrants themselves had exposed many dirty works from within the administration during the former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad's reign. Then, the Sulu terrorists intruded into our nation's water w...

Shadow Cabinet in Malaysia. Are there any legitimacy?

N.B. This article was earlier published in the Inter-Research And Studies (IRAS) website on 14th March 2013 Where is your Shadow Cabinet to prove your ability in governance? This is the question which is usually demanded by leaders of the Barisan Nasional (BN) to challenge the Opposition front Pakatan Rakyat (Pakatan) to prove their ability to work together (PKR, DAP and PAS) to govern this nation should they were to takeover Putrajaya after the 13th general elections (GE13). First of all, let us all ask the BN leaders and ourselves before we jump into some sort of conclusion or being influenced by what is being mentioned by all those BN leaders. Are the institution of an Official Opposition Front Bench and the establishment of a Shadow Cabinet being recognized in our nation? Does the Federal Constitution states that such institutions for the Opposition must be established? Or are there any provisions in any laws in this country which stated that the Shadow Cabinet would be recogn...

Reform the Parliamentary System as well!

N.B. This article was earlier published in the Inter-Research And Studies (IRAS) website on 13th March 2013   Besides having the need to reform the entire government machinery in order to reflect its professionalism and making it into a service-oriented corporation, the Parliamentary System in this country ought to undergo the reform as well. As we can see, eventhough our country is practicing parliamentary democracy, our nation's parliament does not seem to be functioning as it was supposed to be. Yes, there are loopholes, a lot of loopholes in the current parliamentary system. People has been commenting that Malaysia is adopting a rubber-stamped parliamentary system which is only task to proposed and approve laws. Which means, the political parties who hold the majority number of seats in the parliament shall always be a winner and limited debates are only allowed in order to provide some "democratic avenue" to the Opposition bench to provide their views. This is ...

Malaysia will go bankrupt if politicization of economy continues

We had heard a number of views recently from the leaders of the Barisan Nasional (BN), particularly the former premier Mahathir Mohamad, the Umno president Najib Razak, MCA president Chua Soi Lek and so on who repeatedly mention and reminding our people the fact that if Pakatan Rakyat (Pakatan) were to assume power after the 13th general elections, the entire nation would definitely go bankrupt. Well, how did they know that? It is because they got the information from the recently released Pakatan electoral manifesto which cited a more people-friendly and welfare related policies in its proposed governance, if they were to come to power after the general elections. Actually, the matter of whether this country would go bankrupt or not are not for the BN leaders to decide or dictate. Whoever takes over the governance of this nation after the general elections will not give any major impact to our country if the economy of our nation is being managed professionally. What do we mean t...

BN's Troublemaking, Threat, Violence and Dictatorship. Are these called democracy?

Just a few days ago, when DAP held its programme and walkabout in Teluk Intan, BN supporters believed to be from Umno, MCA and MIC rammed into the crowds with the BN flags in their hands yelling and shouting slogans of hate and issuing threats against the crowd warning them of consequences should they continue to listen to the DAP ceramah. Then, the same kind of incident happened again at Bukit Katil in Melaka recently where Umno members attack a Pakatan joint ceramah which resulted to some of the Opposition supporters got injured as the result of the attacks. During the attack, these Umno members used batons and sticks to scare people away from the ceramah, and when the crowd resist, these Umno members began assaulting the people. So, what kind of politics is Umno-BN practicing right now? According to the Umno president and BN chairman, Najib Razak, BN is a coalition of political parties that preaches real democracy and that is why our nation holds general elections every five ye...

Is BN heading towards para-militarism?

Of recently, we had noticed that most leaders of the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties are getting closer to the People's Volunteer Corps (Ikatan Relawan Rakyat Malaysia - RELA) and has been actively recruiting component party members and local leaders into the RELA's rank and file. What the BN chairman, Umno president and prime minister Najib Razak had respond? Najib said it is because of nationalism and this is their way to demonstrate their patriotic spirit in defending the country that they love. But we supposed, it is actually defending the interest of the BN and to ensure its political survival. Almost everyday, we could see BN leaders going round nationwide trying their very best to rope in all their hardcore members and supporters into RELA and recently, Najib has declared that the membership of this para military force had in fact reached to more than 3 million. We do not know if this figure is accurate or not or if the entire 3 million RELA members are full...
