Gerakan lauds Penang Govt's Free WiFi project?

However, the party youth wing chief Tan Keng Liang insisted that the RM8.5 million WiFi contract must be awarded to any deserving company only through an open tender system. Tan also said the refusal by Lim’s government to hold an open tender in the first place was against the principles of Pakatan Rakyat’s Common Policy Framework.
First of all, why is it has to be a Kedah Gerakan leader to comment on Penang. Where are all the Penang Gerakan leaders? Sleeping? Is Tan playing a role that overlaps his Penang counterparts?
Anyway, it is their political decision.
We want to ask Gerakan on the tender issue. Did the Gerakan leaders, particularly its party president Dr Koh Tsu Koon when he was Penang chief minister had ever practice open tender system?
What we did remember very, very well is during Gerakan's reign in Penang under the BN coalition, all its tenders and contracts eventually went over to the cronies of Umno and the tender prices offered for the service were much more higher than the market quotes.
So, are these all open tenders, Gerakan? Is there any transparency during your reign over Penang until 2008? All your tenders are done so secret. When DAP request you all to reveal the tender information and its system of selecting the contractors, you used the Official Secrets Act to threaten anyone who wish to seek these information from you.
What the present Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng did was right in ensuring quality service to the people. He selected the correct contractor to undertake the project as the later has its proven track record in ICT works and projects. Not putting this project to open tender is also in public interest.
Guan Eng uses his wisdom when making such decisions for the betterment and interest of our people entirely and not just for certain parties or cronies like what the previous BN-Gerakan state government had did. Secret, behind close doors and OSA. No transparency at all as we as the people cannot even see or observe the proceedings at all.
So, we would suggest Gerakan to keep their mouth shut and work harder to rebuild their own party first before they see it fit to make public statements claiming to be on behalf our people.
You don't represent us at all now. We had voted you out.
