Anwar reveals proof of One Israel-1Malaysia connection

PKR Advisor and Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim today submitted documentary evidence in Parliament to back his allegation about the link between US-based public relations firm APCO Worldwide, the 'One Israel' concept and the Malaysian government.

Explaining the matter in the Dewan Rakyat earlier, Anwar mentioned that the government was first introduced to APCO by one Omar Mustapha, a close accquaintance of Najib.

"Omar was reported to have introduced APCO to the government as its consultant, and its (APCO's) adviser was stationed in the Prime Minister's Office after Najib took over as prime minister. But this did not go down well with some of the government officials," he said.

According to him, there were two types of agreement that the Malaysian government signed with APCO last year, in order to "improve the Malaysian government's image".

The strange part, he noted, was that the deal was not inked by any top government officials. "It was signed by an unidentified officer and witnessed by the prime minister's press secretary Tengku Sharifuddin Tengku Ahmad,” he claimed.

“This was way before (Najib's) 1Malaysia was announced. Since its (APCO's) duties are to provide 'communications support' to the Malaysian government, APCO may have worked with Najib on 1Malaysia,” he said.

Anwar also said that he would furnish documentary evidence to the Dewan speaker to substantiate his claim that APCO was appointed by the Israeli government under then prime minister Ehud Barak in 1992 for the 'One Israel' campaign.

Today marked the end of the seven-day deadline given to Anwar by the government to explain his 'One Israel, 1 Malaysia' jibe in Parliament.

The government had considered referring Anwar to the Rights and Privileges Committee, which could see him slapped with a suspension from the House.

However, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz said last week that Anwar would be given a chance to explain his allegation.

Currently, the managing director of APCO Malaysia is Paul Stadlen (pic) whose office is located in Kuala Lumpur, while the CEO of APCO Worldwide is Margery Kraus.

That means APCO’s links with the Najib administration also started well before the 1Malaysia concept. However, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had previously stated that APCO’s engagement came only after the inception of 1Malaysia.

How can Najib lied to the people that APCO engagement with his government was only made after the inception og 1Malaysia, while he already had made a number of contacts with them even before that and even an agreement had been signed by one of his unnamed senior officer?

Come on Najib, admit it. There is no point of you covering up and trying to shut Anwar's mouth. The evidence had already been produced and the Opposition Leader is expected to reveal further when situation permits.

So, are you going to throw Anwar into the ISA detention again because of this?
