Stop harassing our Penang Chief Minister

The political motivated police force should stop their irresponsible tactics of continue harassing our Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng and leave him alone.

Guan Eng got a lots of duties and responsibilities to carry out daily for the people and it is not an easy task of running the Penang state government.

We are seeing the continuous harassment by the police on Guan Eng as an act of sabotage and has a clear intention to destabilize the state government and its administration. They are hoping to obtain some "evidence" in order to make an arrest.

The police must remember, we as taxpayers are paying you to fight crime and arrest all those real crooks but you did not do so. The real crooks who disguised themselves under various NGOs held violent demonstrations, issuing threats, hate messages and attempting to topple the state government were not at all arrested all because they are all supporters of Umno and the ketuanan agenda.

This is blatant power abuse shown by the police. As such, we need the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) to be in placed in order to check and scrutinize them.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

No action against YBs without speaker's consent

Penang assembly Speaker Law Choo Kiang said the police and attorney-general (AG) cannot prosecute any elected representatives for any wrongdoings committed in the House. Law said the authorities cannot act on the assemblypersons without the agreement of the speaker. "So this clearly cancels the (planned) charge against Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer for sedition under the 1948 Sedition Act," the PKR Bukit Tambun assemblyperson said in a statement yesterday. Law said a warning based on the assembly's standing orders has been issued to Rayer not to repeat the remark "Umno celaka" (damned Umno), which the latter allegedly uttered in the House on May 20.
