Hello Najib, where is your zero tolerance on racism?

We recently heard of prime minister Najib Razak's repeated promises day after day, pledging to carry out zero tolerance on racism at all levels which of course, include his administration as well. To one extend, Najib even gave a speech at the United Nations calling for the moderates to lead the way and to combat extremism and racism. But after weeks and now coming to months, where is your zero tolerance on racism? Where are your solid actions which you pledged to do? Where are your records? Where are all your much said anticipations? And furthermore, where is 1Malaysia's direction? Your zero tolerance? We don't see any of your implementations, actions or results at all. You are just only going around the nation talking, talking and talking but you did not walk the talk. It is just like not talking at all! And there comes, another racist statement made by a senior federal government official under your prime minister's department in an Umno's function. Is there any ...

Hatred and racism: It's BTN again!

Image
One after another cases of extremely racist making hate remarks, statements and threats against our fellow Malaysians. So far, all those who did all these acts came from the various federal government machinery. Despite many reports being made against all these irresponsible politicians and civil servants, no actions were taken against them just because they are all supporters of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN). No actions nor any disciplinary action. The deputy prime minister already said, he has no power to do so. Thanks to the deputy prime minister, here comes the BTN showcase again. This time it is the BTN deputy director Hamim Hussain who was caught uttering racist and hate statements while giving a speech in a Puteri Umno function. He simply hated the Malaysian Chinese and Indians. That is why he did not want to care. He doesn't care at all. Hamim had yesterday referred to the Chinese and Indian community as ā€œSi Mata Sepetā€ and ā€œSi Botolā€ respectively when asking Puteri Umno m...

New party keen to join Pakatan Rakyat

Image
Parti Ekonomi Rakyat Sarawak (PERS), the stateā€™s newest but yet-to-be registered political party, today voiced its intention to join the state Pakatan Rakyat (PR). Its pro-tem party president Salleh Mahli, a businessman, said a united opposition front in the state would be able to mount a very serious challenge to the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the soon to be state election. He told the press after handing over RM5,000 contribution in aid of the recent Penan fire victims in Long Luar and Long Kajang settlements in the interiors of the Belaga District in Kapit. Salleh also gave RM500 to a representative of the Orang Ulu folks of Uma Balui, Labuway, Nahajalay also in the district to build a water catchment pool for their water supply. ā€œWe have notified PR of our intention. We would again like to assure them we are not part of or sponsored by the BN,ā€ he said, adding that if the party is accepted into the fold, PERS would contest in 30 seats and would leave out the balance of 41 to others i...

It is Umno's fear of losing power, not the Malays

Image
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has warned that the Malays will totally "lose their power" if the Pakatan Rakyat were to come to power, and he went on to label Pakatan leaders as a bunch of self-serving and racist politicians. We wish to bring to attention of our people on what this actual racist Mahathir had just mentioned recently. Actually, it is Umno who is the one who is fearing of losing its powers to the opposition and not the Malay people. Just because Umno themselves fear of losing their power in the next general election, they use the Malay race to shield their weakness and irrelevance by saying that the Malays will "lose their power". Umno is Umno, and the Malays are Malays on their own identity and accord. Umno is not Malay and the Malays are not Umno. Umno is just an ordinary political party based on one race membership which they had dictated under their party by-laws. As such, Umno cannot claim that they are part of the establishment i...

Tow Boo Kong Temple celebrates 40th Anniversary

Image
The Nine Emperor Gods' Tow Boo Kong Temple in Butterworth, Seberang Perai started its 40th anniversary celebration yesterday with chantings, prayers and various offerings made to the deities. Besides, several well-known Taoist priests were also invited from China, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong to grace the event. The celebration began yesterday and will end this Saturday 25th September 2010.

BN enforces publishing laws only against its critics, opponents

Image
When Utusan Malaysia made false allegations by linking DAP leaders to the recent murder of businesswoman Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and her associates, the federal government had todate refused any action against the Umno's wholly owned newspaper citing that it is press freedom. So, this is Umno's press freedom. Besides making such false allegations, Utusan Malaysia had also published various reports and articles which are aimed to incite hatred, promote racism, thus causing disunity in our multiracial communities. And yet, like before the home ministry did not act against the Malay daily because it is owned by Umno. It is Umno's press freedom. But when Suara Keadilan reported to the public on Felda's mismanagement and bankruptcy, the home ministry was quick to take action against the PKR newspaper reasoning that the reports published were inaccurate and false. Hundreds of Felda settlers had came forward to voice their grave disappointment and grievances over the mistreatm...

Writers, printers, publishers, Beware!

Image
Recently the home ministry had came up with more comprehensive guidelines to ensure that publishers, writers and printers are "better informed" about their roles and responsibilities. According to its deputy minister Lee Chee Leong, this would help to strengthen the enforcement under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 (Act 301). He said these guidelines would ensure that all publishers and writers perform their roles accordingly and news are reported as "accurate" as possible. The deputy minister also said that these guidelines are required following the inclination of some publisher who deliberately create tensions and anxiety among religions, races and cultures. We want to ask the home ministry and the deputy minister, are they serious about implementing these new guidelines? Does this implementation covers the entire nation and all our people, regardless of who he is or what is his position and status? We want to ask the home ministry and the deputy m...

Foreign investors avoiding Malaysia because of Umno

Image
Malaysia is now the ā€œleast favoured marketā€ in Asia Pacific for investors after nearly doubling its underweight rating from last month, according to a recent Bank of America Merrill Lynch report. The country slipped two spots from 10th place to dead last ā€” in the investment bankā€™s latest Fund Managers Survey, even as the Najib administration prepares to unveil ambitious economic reforms meant to boost investor confidence. This report appears to be the latest indictment of Malaysiaā€™s inability to compete with rival regional markets. Yes, Malaysia's economic structure is indeed sick because of so many reason in Umno. Malaysia is also politically sick because of Umno's continuance denial of the call for a drastic change in order to shape the country's economy for better. What is seen in Najib's currently ambitious planned economic reforms did not really convince the business communities both local and abroad that this country is the best place for business and investments....

40th Anniversary of Tow Boo Kong Temple, Butterworth

Image
The month of September 2010 is very significant for the history of Tow Boo Kong Temple Butterworth. For in this month, the temple will be celebrating two major events of the year: its 40th Anniversary as well as The Grand Ritual Praying for World Peace and Prosperity in Malaysia. These celebrations will last for 5 days. Invitation has been sent to invite high ranking Taoist masters from Fujian China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore to preside the ceremonial prayers for the temple. Other representatives from the Taoist Associations from these countries, as well as Thailand and Malaysia have also been invited to grace this special occasion together. At the same time, these associations will be sending more than 100 Taoist Masters to perform the Blessing and Prayers Ritual. Vast effort and planning has been put in for the preparation of these two massive events. Prior visits to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore have also been made to understand and learn the intricacies of t...

Racism: No affirmative in MCA

Image
We could remember earlier the MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek had told the media that racism will still be in our local politics today and the near future and confirmed that racist politics in our country can never be done away. However, Dr Chua's tone had changed again for a "better" one two days ago where he said that he did not see any of the Umno leaders preaching the superiority of the countryā€™s dominant race over the others. Two different and opposing statements made by the MCA president himself against himself shows that he and the MCA are yet to have any affirmative to-date on how to handle the current racially divide Malaysia. Both statements made by Dr Chua are inconsistent and had not led him to regain support from the Chinese community at all as his stands had so far making everyone more confuse than ever. In fact, our people are getting more suspicious of MCA on whether the BN's Chinese based party is really standing on its own now or is it still a mere par...

Distortion of Religion

Image
Despite the value of religion in moral upliftment, it is also true to say that religion is a fertile soil for the development of superstitions and devotional hypocrisy, wrapped under the the cloak of religiousity. Many people use religion to escape from realities of life and put on the garb of religion and religious symbols. They may even pray very often in places of worship, yet they are not sincerely religious minded and have not understood what their religion stands for. When a religion has been debased by ignorance, greed for power and selfishness, people quickly point an accusing finger and say this religion and that religion are irrational. But "religion" (ritualistic external practice of any teaching) must be distinguished from the teaching itself. Before one criticizes, one must study the original teachings of the founder and see if there is anything intrinsically wrong with it. Religion advises people to do good and be good, but they are not interested to do so. Inst...

Respect other religions please!

Image
One should not honour only one's own religion and condemn the religions of others, but one should honour others' religions for this or that reason. So doing, one helps one's own religion to grow and render service to the religions of others too. In acting otherwise, one digs the grave of one's own religion and also does harm to other religions. Whosoever honours his own religion and condemns other religions does so indeed through devotion to his own religion, thinking "I will glorify my religion". But on contrary, in so doing he injures his own religion more gravely. If you are devoted to your religion or faith, no matter how much distractions from outside, your concentration to your prayers would not be disturbed unless you yourselves are disturbed or there are impurities in your mind. Therefore, should you endure in challenges which regards to the faith and religions of others, we welcome you with open arms and have interfaith dialogues positively. Please do...

BN leaders are up against Perkasa, but Dr Chua says otherwise

Image
The newest report today says Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders finally came together today in an apparent face-off with ultra-extremist Malay rights group Perkasa and its leader Ibrahim Ali, who has been seen as a thorn in the side of the Najib administration. However, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek said that Malaysian politics had become more racially charged than ever. Dr Chua also said that it is equally hard to manage race relations and the expectations of each community. And he seems to be uncertain why is this happening? Well, we think he needs a little bit of history lesson again. During the period from 1957 to 1967, the post independent Malaysia, everyone of us at that time talk about being Malaysian, everyone of us viewed each other as fellow Malaysians. We all walked, talked, ate, drank, worked, sang and danced as Malaysians at heart. And even in our movies and films during that period, all covered the entire aspects of a Malaysian Malaysia scenario which we never have today. It i...

1Malaysia Club: Simply a bunch of fools and idiots

Image
When the Bar Council initiated a nationwide campaign to educate our people, especially the youths on the basics and importance of knowing the Federal Constitution under the MyConstitution Program, some group of narrow minded politicians grouping themselves to be called 1Malaysia Graduate Youth Club had apparently came into light to attack this very good effort. Well, one very stupid reason the 1Malaysia Graduates Youth Club gave was, the efforts carried out by the Bar Council in its MyConstitution Program would educate more people to know about their rights and ways of amending the Federal Constitution would soon made known to the general public. That is why the leaders of the 1Malaysia Graduates Youth Club made a police report against the Bar Council. According to them getting more people to know their constitutional rights and the ways to amend the Federal Constitution were deemed to be harmful and seditious in the way that the people would later show their disrespect to our nation...

Sourcing illegal arms from overseas and Umno youth military trainings, Najib must explain

Image
Even if the Umno-led BN federal government had successfully shut down those news portals who are critical to the establishment, we had already knew what is going on and the prime minister who is also the Umno president Najib Razak must explain to the people. The recent reports are very alarming. The Umno youth are sending its selected members for intensive paramilitary training. The federal government was reported to had acquired large quantities of arms and ammunition not via official government channel but through a number of secret deals and illegal channels as well. So, what exactly is going on right now? Why is Umno sending its youth members for paramilitary training? Why are they buying those arms through illegal channels and secret deals? If they are mean for our nation's armed force, why are they making such suspicious arm procurements? Is Umno planning to wage a war? War against who? The people and democracy? We had clearly seen a number of crackdown on political dissident...

Critical talk show: 98.8 radio host Jamaluddin and CEO Wong sacked

Star RFM has sacked popular talk-show host Jamaluddin Ibrahim and the chief executive officer of his 98.8 channel, Wong Lai Ngo. The 98.8 shakeup erupted last month after Star RFM suspended Jamaluddin and his colleagues following a letter from industry regulator, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). MCMC had said it was not responsible for the removal of the 98.8 staff, but was merely investigating the station for alleged breach of licence conditions following alleged ā€œcomplaintsā€™" about Jamaluddin's programme. MCMC did not say how many complaints it had received, or gave any indication as to who the complainants were. On Tuesday, senior programme manager Tan Chia Yong's service was terminated. According to Star RFM, the MCMC had found that Jamaluddin's "Hi Malaysia!" radio show had on Aug 13 "violated regulations" stated in the station's broadcasting licence. Jamaluddin and Wong received their termination letters on We...

Outgoing IGP revealed all: Political backstabbing

Image
Outgoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hassan said interference and blatant disrespect for the policeā€™s chain of command by certain quarters within the ruling political elites and the federal government were among the biggest disappointments in his 41 years of service in the force. Those culprits involved included high ranking officials from the Home Ministry, he said as he broke his silence in his last days in office. There were times when these third parties had given instructions to his personnel without his knowledge and this had led to confusion within the force. There is a chain of command in the police force of which orders can only go out directly from the IGP and his commissioners but those third parties choose to show disrespect on him and bypassed his office instead. Musa also said that on several occasions, he had been very direct about this and these interfering ministry officials choose to ignore him despite several reminders were given. Apart from this, ...

Double standards in Namewee, school principals, a teacher and police inspector cases

Image
The prime minister and Umno president had recently called on swift action to be taken against those who uttered racist remarks and insults. Then, the Umno deputy president, who is also the education minister had also called for stern action against Namewee for his anti-racism video clip in the youtube.com recently. What about the two school principals from Kulai and Bukit Selambau, a teacher in Penang and the most recent one, a police inspector attached to the Kepong police station who all uttered racist remarks and insults onto others? Reason for these inaction were because all their victims had misunderstood those remarks and insults, which were actually "not". So if those racist remarks and insults were actually not racist or insults, what are they actually? These racist civil servants uttered these racist act because they are stressed or are they under pressured to do so? Why double standards against Namewee, questioned for over 10 hours, for his condemnation on racism a...
