BN enforces publishing laws only against its critics, opponents

When Utusan Malaysia made false allegations by linking DAP leaders to the recent murder of businesswoman Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and her associates, the federal government had todate refused any action against the Umno's wholly owned newspaper citing that it is press freedom.

So, this is Umno's press freedom. Besides making such false allegations, Utusan Malaysia had also published various reports and articles which are aimed to incite hatred, promote racism, thus causing disunity in our multiracial communities. And yet, like before the home ministry did not act against the Malay daily because it is owned by Umno. It is Umno's press freedom.

But when Suara Keadilan reported to the public on Felda's mismanagement and bankruptcy, the home ministry was quick to take action against the PKR newspaper reasoning that the reports published were inaccurate and false. Hundreds of Felda settlers had came forward to voice their grave disappointment and grievances over the mistreatment and the mismanagement of Felda's funds.

The home ministry's action against Suara Keadilan was to prevent the scandal and power abuses in Felda from going public. It is a cover-up in order to protect Felda's image. The BN-led federal government giving "freedom of press" to Umno's Utusan Malaysia to make false allegations, spread lies, promote racism and hatred, and disunity, while imposing restrictions onto its critics and opposition parties' press from reporting the truth and to seek justice for our people.

There's no point for the home ministry or whoever its minister or deputy ministers to inform our people that they ate working on some new guidelines which would better enforce the provisions under the Publications and Printing Presses Act (PPPA) against newspapers, publishers and writers who fan disunity, racism, hatred, violence and false news in their newspapers and reports. The home ministry only act against its critics and the opposition parties for an "alleged mistakes" and "fabrications" but not on Utusan Malaysia, Perkasa or Umno's continuance advancement of disunity, racism, hatred, violence and false reports.

Yeah! This is Umno's freedom of press. The freedom of press only applies to Umno. The Umno dominated BN federal government enforces the PPPA only to describe that its critics and the opposition parties had in fact "broken the law", while Umno's own "law breaking" has been purportedly sanctioned reasoning that they did not want to "harm the freedom of press".

Well, as long as all those racists and hate mongers continue to occupy the chairs in Putrajaya, our nation shall continue to verge into the dark side.
