Is KD Tunku Abdul Rahman sinking?
Right now the submarine had continue remain in the Teluk Sepanggar Naval Base in Sabah for several months now because of several undisclosed technical problems. Routine maintenance checks had later revealed that more technical problems were detected which resulted the submarine to remain docked until further notice.
Well, what do we know here? It is a second hand submarine which was bought from France by the then defense minister who is the current prime minister of our nation. It was bought along with another submarine named KD Tun Abdul Razak which had recently arrived on 2 July.
What if KD Tun Abdul Razak is also unfit for diving? What if it is also declared unsafe for full operation? There goes maintenance, repair, getting spare parts, repair, test and repair again and again. All these will cost the federal government billions in Ringgit.
Just because of these two submarines which we supposed would not be fully operational, our nation's hard earned billions of Ringgit will be drained away into the sea. It's so simple as that.
The Umno-led BN federal government is spending the nation's cash like pouring water onto the ground without any valid reasons.
Is our nation under threat? Who will be attacking us? Why do we need submarines and not only this, they also need to buy torpedoes to arm the submarines? Is there an arm race in Southeast Asia where our nation needs to be better protected from our "neighbouring enemies"?
Instead of arming the military without any valid reasons to do so, why not use the money to help our people, develop our nation and organize various projects that benefits our people? Why waste billion of Ringgit simply because you want some pride over the others? What about our people, those who are suffering, those who need money, those who are in dire need of help and so on?
RM3.4 billion is not little at all. We understand that you also paid a huge amount of commission to one of cronies. Roughly the sum up of these two submarines will reach about RM7.0 billion to RM10.0 billion should the technical failures of these two units continue.
And in the long run when the cost is up you will have to spend more than RM10.0 billion to upkeep those two second hand submarines and what if it become beyond repair one day and you decide to sell it as what? Then you will know how much you had lost, trillions of Ringgit of public funds.
That is why our nation is going bankrupt. By the way, where is Datuk Idris Jala?
