Second Lim-Chua debate. Why only focus on one race?

The second debate between DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and the widely sexually tainted MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek is expected to begin tomorrow at 2.30pm which is titled, "DAP and MCA: Whose policies benefit the community more?"

According to the host, Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) the subject of the debate would cover  education, healthcare, economic prosperity, community service, national unity, welfare and poverty. In the first debate held previously, it was titled, "Malaysian Chinese at the political crossroads".

We would like to ask the organizer, ASLI, why are they only focusing on a debate of one race? Why not debate issues which are related to all Malaysians instead of only Malaysian Chinese? And why only single out the DAP and MCA as the subject of the debate?

Didn't ASLI realise that DAP is a multiracial political party, while MCA is a Chinese-based political party? DAP is currently a component party of the opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition, while MCA is a member of the BN coalition, also doubt itself as the second largest party in the ruling coalition.

Would it be better if the title is mentioned as, "Pakatan and Barisan: Whose policies benefit the community more?" If DAP and MCA are the only ones singled out for the policy debate, what can we as Malaysians overall gain from it? MCA will always take this opportunity to champion issues for the Malaysian Chinese and label DAP as a traitor to the said community while the later would then be too busy defending their multiracial stance in order to benefit the entire Malaysian community.

Did ASLI arrange this for MCA? No one knows, but only ASLI and MCA knows the plan well. Just look at the alleged extra marital of the DAP leader mentioned by Dr Chua recently, and the other allegation of a bail out on Talam Corporation Bhd by the Selangor state government which was made by Dr Chua's son, Tee Yong. It looks like a plot to tarnish the reputation of DAP and Guan Eng ahead of the upcoming debate in a hope that the DAP leader would lose concentration over the said allegations.

Well, it has been planned and organized and the event is scheduled tomorrow afternoon. We would want to remind ASLI, if they wanted to organize another similar kind of debate between leaders of the political divide in future, do it a Malaysian one instead of focusing on a particular race. Use only the Malaysian language and no mixture of Mandarin or whatever it is. Focus on national issues, matters that are related to the economy and well-being of the nation. This is to encourage Malaysians from all walks of life to come forward and pay more interest on the debate.

Otherwise, the Malays, Indians, Kadazans or Sikhs would just say, "Who cares? This is Chinese problem, let them fight it out themselves". Remember ASLI, be more a Malaysian please!
