KDN double standard in approval of political parties registration
Just look at how the home affairs ministry (KDN) approve the registration of political parties in this country. If the political party is closely linked to or being friendly to BN or Umno, that party is sure to obtain its registration in a fastest mode.
One clear example which happened early of this week. The Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) application for registration has been approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) without any hassle. The formation of SWP was linked to Datuk S'ng Chee Hua and his cousin Pelagus state assemblyman George Lagong who are both BN friendly politicians.
It is clear that the purpose of Datuk S'ng and Lagong forming SWP is not to fight for the workers' rights but to continue his political rivalry battle with Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), A BN component party, where both of them were expelled previously.
Besides SWP, the other political party which has been given similar preferential treatment was Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) which was established by a group of dissidents from Gerakan who were either being expelled or left the later due to factional split.
See, political parties which are BN friendly were approved within weeks but if you see those political parties who are not linked to any BN leaders and committed to the opposition side, are all still awaiting their application for registration to be approved.
These parties who are still waiting for months and even years are United Sabah National Organization-Baru (USNO-Baru), Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak-Baru (PBDS-Baru), Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), Parti Ekonomi Rakyat Sarawak (PERS), Parti Tenaga Rakyat (Teras) and the People's Alliance for Justice and Peace (Peace Party).
As for the Malaysian Dayak Congress (MDC) its application for registration has been rejected by the ROS and KDN on grounds of "national security", while the Human Rights Party (HRP) application was rejected after awaiting for years for its approval. HRP leaders are now considering legal action against both the ROS and KDN due to the unjust situation.
Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) which currently has one member each in the parliament and the Selangor state legislative assembly also suffered the same fate. The hassles and problems in getting the PSM to be registered was the worst one in history where its application for registration was dragged, delayed, and onhold for years before finally PSM decided to take the matter to the court. The court later issued an order to the ROS to register PSM as a political party as soon as possible.
The KDN and ROS has been double standard and unprofessional in treating such applications.
