Bayan Mutiara land deal: Penang Umno tried to hide its past mistakes

The Penang Umno youth is trying to hide and cover-up its previous mistakes on the sale of the mosque land in Bayan Mutiara by twisting the facts via fanning racial and religious sentiments so that the Malay community would hate the Chinese and later wage a racial war and violence against the people of Penang in the name of "protecting the Malay rights".

The real fact is the development plan was approved by the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) in 2006 when the Umno-Gerakan-MCA-MIC were jointly governing the BN state government. When the previous developer (which had close connection with Umno) failed to develop it, the land was later sold to another developer through an open tender, thus a new plan must be submitted to MPPP as the old one has expired.

The development plan of the land was approved by the MPPP in 2006 with the knowledge of the BN state government and all the Umno leaders were also aware of the situation. So, why on earth the BN state government during that time fail to make its every effort to ensure the land is subdivided and gazetted it for the mosque to the Penang Islamic Affairs Council (MAIPP).

Actually, they still had about more than a year to do so, before the BN rulers were summarily defeated in the 2008 general election.

Therefore, it is very clear that Umno is trying their very best to hide their past mistakes and the failure of their crony developer at that time by drumming up race and religion into this matter in order to fool the Malay community into unnecessary anger and hatred.

Actually, these Umno leaders did not want to keep the land for the Malay community at all. All they wanted during that time (from 2006 to 2008) was to earn all the profits they could from the land deal. They only wanted to benefit the Umno's "Bangsawan Melayu" clique and not the Malay community at large who until today still remain as the poorest community in this country.

Umno had always claim that they are championing the Malays and Islam but after 54 years, why are there still no proper housing and other basic facilities in many Malay rural residential areas, why are the Malays still lacking in their economic achievement till today, why are many in the Malay community still in poor and devastating condition with no money, no proper education, no food or clothing?

And lastly if Umno were the true champion of Malays, why are the Malays split in politics? Don't just push the blame on some Malay political leaders of other political parties. The fact that is Umno is irrelevant, as such many in the Malay community are not supporting Umno these days.
