BN "elections" campaign in KTM stations, EC double standard
To BN and Umno, they could start off with their so-called "elections" campaign right now. Look at the BN flags that have been put up in many Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) railway stations recently.
According to a KTM inside source, the hoisting of BN and Umno flags in many KTM stations recently was instructed by KTM chairman Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed who is also a high ranking Umno leader in Selangor and the BN chief coordinator for the state.
This is a blatant misuse of power. An Umno leader who was entrusted with public position had systematically misused his power and position as the chairman of KTM to have political related activities being carried out in public places such as railway stations.
And yet, till now, the Elections Commission (EC) is still closing one eye on such misuse of power by BN and Umno. It is stated clearly in the electoral law and regulations that if there's no general elections being held, political parties are not allowed to conduct its elections campaign in public places.
But in this case, BN and Umno leaders are blatantly breaking the laws and the EC is not bothered about it at all, even when such illegal activities were being widely reported in the press recently. As usual, the EC officials had given their reasons, "no one reported the incident, as such we (EC) could not act on it".
We challenge EC. If EC is so independent and not under the jurisdiction of the BN government as it claimed all these while, then act against BN and Umno who misused public facilities for their "elections" campaigns. Otherwise, the EC is just simply another tool of BN to repress the opposition force.
