Duduk Bantah means Sit-In. Why so difficult?

Image
The Bersih 3.0 steering committee has earlier announced that their initial plan was to organize the electoral reforms rally at Dataran Merdeka via Sit-In or better known as "Duduk Bantah". However, the home affairs ministry in collaboration with the Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) has decided not to allow the Sit-In rally to be held at the Dataran Merdeka on grounds that the square was not a designated area to do so. They instead offered the stadium (which was disallowed during the Bersih 2.0 last July 2010) to the Bersih 3.0 organizers. And if the Bersih 3.0 steering committee were to accept the offer to use the stadium to host the rally, will the stadium authorities then sincerely allow the rally to be carried out there in the first place? It was because the stadium authorities and the federal government were never sincere during the Bersih 2.0 rally on last July 2010 when the organizers wanted to use the stadium, and the government agreed, and then in the end th...

No wonder EC is full of dirt!

Image
We heard and saw in disgust the news reports today mentioning that the Elections Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof and deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar are both active members of Umno. No wonder there are all sorts of dirty games being played inside the EC framework. Missing voters' names, voters being transferred without permission, registering illegal immigrants as voters (under Project M), dead voters still in exist, voters names removed from the electoral lists, the existence of large number of postal voters and whatever you name it, there are all part of EC's dirty work, all for the sake of protecting Umno and BN as well as to ensure BN remains in power for years to come. Yes, we heard of many that had made their calls for both Tan Sri Abdul Aziz and Datuk Wan Ahmad to relinquish their membership from Umno. There is no point now. They had done a lots of damage from 2007 until today. What has been done cannot be undone. What both the EC c...

Dirtiest general election in Malaysian history

Image
From the above title, we are certain that many of us would be asking why, what and how. And many of us are also not aware why do Bersih 3.0 need to take place in this 28th April 2012 at Dataran Merdeka. This is because the general elections in Malaysia has been dirty for many years and if the 13th general elections is to be held somewhere this year round, it would be the dirtiest ever general election in our Malaysian history. Why? Unknown to most people, frauds in the electoral lists are increasingly double almost daily. Names of those who had passed away, those who does not exist at all, those who were not even 21 years of age and those who are not citizens of Malaysia are found in the electoral list. And lately, even names of roads and companies are also included in the electoral lists. Even a prominent member of the Bersih Steering Committee had exposed that he has been declared as "meninggal dunia" by the Elections Commission (EC) and therefore his name has been d...

KDN double standard in approval of political parties registration

Just look at how the home affairs ministry (KDN) approve the registration of political parties in this country. If the political party is closely linked to or being friendly to BN or Umno, that party is sure to obtain its registration in a fastest mode. One clear example which happened early of this week. The Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) application for registration has been approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) without any hassle. The formation of SWP was linked to Datuk S'ng Chee Hua and his cousin Pelagus state assemblyman George Lagong who are both BN friendly politicians. It is clear that the purpose of Datuk S'ng and Lagong forming SWP is not to fight for the workers' rights but to continue his political rivalry battle with Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), A BN component party, where both of them were expelled previously. Besides SWP, the other political party which has been given similar preferential treatment was Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) which was establis...

BN-linked gangsters attacked students in Dataran Merdeka

Image
BN-linked gangsters last night launched a massive assault on some students activists and representatives who had vowed to camp at Dataran Merdeka until this coming 28 April 2012, the date that the Bersih 3.0 rally would take place. It shows the desperation of the BN now and due to the worrying on the growing dissent of the people, these BN leaders has decided to use forms of violence and scare tactics in order to force our people into submission. And that is why you could see when these BN-linked thugs attacked the student activists, the 20 over police personnel who were on standby mode there did not dare to step in to stop the attacks and only did so when one of the students pleaded to these officers ti intervene. By the time the police came, many of the thugs had escaped. So, what is the point the police being stationed there then? As the result of the attack, most of the students suffer injuries and one of them was send to the hospital for treatment. Apart from that, their ...

French Scorpene inquiry to commence in France

Image
The official public inquiry over the purchase of the French Scorpene submarines by the Malaysian government in the year 2001 is expected to commence tomorrow in France. The official probe was called by the French government. The probe in France will be carried out by a specially appointed Paris Tribunal Grande Instance. Some prominent Malaysian human rights activist are also expected to be called up as witness for the inquiry. Among them are Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram) director Dr Kua Kia Soong and Suaram secretariat member Cynthia Gabriel. Well, we hope the Tribunal would come up with some findings in France of which will link to Abdul Razak Baginda (a one time advisor and agent of prime minister and Umno president Najib Razak during his tenure as minister of defense), the murder of a Mongolian interpreter Altantuya Shaariibuu and the deal which led to the purchase of these Scorpene submarines. The father of the late Altantuya, Setev Shaarribuu is also expected to appear...

Pakatan could push for Malaysia to be a "republic"

Image
Based on the alleged "rude" behaviour shown by some Pakatan members of parliament in the recent Yang Dipertuan Agong's installation day, the Malay extremist group, Perkasa could easily assumed that the Pakatan could push Malaysia to be a republic if they were to rule this nation one day. Just what kind of assumption is this? Senseless and idiotic indeed. During the king's installation on that day, not even one Perkasa leader was there to see if such "rude" behaviour really take place or otherwise. These Perkasa leaders are merely assuming that the "rudeness" has taken place based on the rumours circulated by some Umno members of parliament and that kind of talk about were not even being confirmed by most of them. Even the palace and the protocol officials in the ceremony, particularly the Penyimpan Besar Mohor Raja-Raja did not receive any complaints from anyone be it Umno or other BN members of parliament on what had alleged to had happened...

BN distributing electoral campaign comic books to schools

Image
The BN federal government is going all out to undermine the credibility of the opposition Pakatan Rakyat with its aggressive elections campaign nationwide. The people's support for Pakatan Rakyat is increasing almost daily. BN is now desperate and wanted to ensure that the ruling coalition stays in power for as long as it can. But the general election must be held within every five years which the BN cannot avoid as by doing so would mean going against the provisions of the Federal Constitution. Therefore, in ensuring BN's survival, it has resorted to many tactics, including of those against the law to smear the reputation of the opposition leaders and their parties namely PKR, DAP and PAS. This time the ministry of education is taking up the task by getting into producing electoral campaign comic books to be distributed to all schools. Currently these political-motivated comic books has been delivered to all state education departments nationwide and these comic books...

BN "elections" campaign in KTM stations, EC double standard

Image
To BN and Umno, they could start off with their so-called "elections" campaign right now. Look at the BN flags that have been put up in many Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) railway stations recently. According to a KTM inside source, the hoisting of BN and Umno flags in many KTM stations recently was instructed by KTM chairman Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed who is also a high ranking Umno leader in Selangor and the BN chief coordinator for the state. This is a blatant misuse of power. An Umno leader who was entrusted with  public position had systematically misused his power and position as the chairman of KTM to have political related activities being carried out in public places such as railway stations. And yet, till now, the Elections Commission (EC) is still closing one eye on such misuse of power by BN and Umno. It is stated clearly in the electoral law and regulations that if there's no general elections being held, political parties are not allowed to conduct ...

Janganlah diperbankrapkan negara ini!

Image

What independence? Bersih 3.0 is for all

Image
Penang Gerakan legal and human rights bureau chairman Bajit Singh had called on Bersih 3.0 co-chairman Datuk S.Ambiga to clarify whether the Bersih 3.0 rally is at the behest of the opposition Pakatan Rakyat. Apart from that Penang Gerakan leader also proposed that the Bersih 3.0 steering committee should ban Pakatan top leaders from participating in the upcoming rally in order to proof that the coalition for electoral reforms was an independent and non-partisan movement seeking the improve the nation's democratic process. First of all, we would urge Baljit to stop confusing the entire situation which regards on the Bersih 3.0 rally. As Datuk Ambiga and the rest of the NGO leaders had mentioned, Bersih 3.0 is for all regardless of whether he or she is from Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat as long as the person believe in upholding the objectives of seeking a total electoral reform. Do not forget that Baljit had also publicly admitted that he had also personally par...

Bayan Mutiara land deal: Penang Umno tried to hide its past mistakes

Image
The Penang Umno youth is trying to hide and cover-up its previous mistakes on the sale of the mosque land in Bayan Mutiara by twisting the facts via fanning racial and religious sentiments so that the Malay community would hate the Chinese and later wage a racial war and violence against the people of Penang in the name of "protecting the Malay rights". The real fact is the development plan was approved by the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) in 2006 when the Umno-Gerakan-MCA-MIC were jointly governing the BN state government. When the previous developer (which had close connection with Umno) failed to develop it, the land was later sold to another developer through an open tender, thus a new plan must be submitted to MPPP as the old one has expired. The development plan of the land was approved by the MPPP in 2006 with the knowledge of the BN state government and all the Umno leaders were also aware of the situation. So, why on earth the BN state government during tha...

Electoral Reform PSC report passed in such a hurry

Image
The report forwarded by the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on Electoral Reforms was passed in such a hurry on 3 April 2012 recently. The report was earlier tabled by the PSC chairman and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili which consist of 22 recommendations. However, members of parliament especially from the opposition Pakatan Rakyat bench were not given sufficient time to review, debate and make amendments to all the 22 recommendations as the BN parliament speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia has decided to quickly invoke the standing order to put the PSC report to vote despite continuous plea from the Pakatan members of parliament to have more time for review, debates and propose some amendments to the report. Just what kind of parliamentary session is this? If these members of parliament were not given the most sufficient time to review, debate or to suggest any changes to the PSC report, it is just like there is no PSC at all. What ...
