Another BN's bluff for a better democracy
This effort mounted by the Umno in particular was intended to curb all dissent and freedom of speech by our people. They had indeed saw the increasing dissatisfaction of our people towards their governance, they use the police force to curb all these dissidents, political oppositions, human rights groups and other NGOs from properly demonstrating their basic human rights enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
It is clear that from the content of the so-called Peaceful Assembly Bill, many clauses pertaining to the restrictions and control on our people's right to assemble, and even the our rights to express our opinions toward policies, the consideration of the permit to assemble and the criteria to apply for the same. All these purpose were clearly defined, it is to restrict our democratic rights.
Better to call it, "Restriction of Assembly Bill" than to name it as Peaceful Assembly Bill. First, the BN government said they wanted to repeal this law and that law, but somehow, they invented some new laws in return to restrict democracy and our people even more. It shows that BN, particularly Umno is insincere in their plan for a better democracy in this country. It is a mere bluff and our people have been cheated.
Aside, this law is also seen to be going against the Federal Constitution which guarantees the rights of our people to assemble and to voice our opinions and facts for the betterment of our society entirely.
And when BN and Umno is threatening the existence of the Federal Constitution, the Yang Dipertuan Agung who is supposed to protect the constitution and our people was not in this country. We supposed the king has been taken away for some sort of "vacation" in order to pave way for the enforcement of this unconstitutional bill in the parliament.
Never mind if that is the case. We hope our people has awaken to the fact that the Umno-led BN federal government has been cheating us all this while and they will continue to do that so long as they are still the government in Putrajaya.
