Why cattle project given to greenhorns?

First of all, why this cattle project was given to greenhorns in the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC)? A total of RM250 million in loan granted by the BN government is indeed filled with elements of power abuses.

The fact is the public funds were given for the project has been invested in totally unrelated business. The fact that it is given to the close family members of a federal minister from Umno will lead one to enquire as to whether all is above board and in order.

We definitely doubt that and so does our people. We want straight answers from the ministry of agricultural and the federal treasury as well on how this loan was disbursed without undergoing a proper process and procedures to ensure the company was fit and have sufficient expertise to undertake this project.

In public view, it has been clearly shown that this grant has been given out of political favour as it has been given to the spouse of a serving federal minister who is also the Umno wanita chief. Besides, the minister's spouse also hold some important positions in the party at local level.

So, how are you going to affirm that it has been done in a proper manner unless you could prove otherwise, which until to-date no concrete explanations has been made.

And guess what, the deputy prime minister and Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin is passing the ball around, avoiding further questions onto the NFC scandal and saying that now the people should decide. Yes, we will certainly decide the best when it comes to the next general elections.

But it is also very improper for Muhyiddin to just wash his hands and avoid answering questions related to this deal, as this grant was given during his tenure as minister of agriculture. As such, he is also responsible for the said scandal.

By right, the taker of the grant should not be totally blamed. The giver should also be held responsible for the irregular disbursement of public funds into wrong hands.

By the way, why is the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) keeping so quiet? No investigations until a file is opened, and not until a report is lodged, only then a file will be opened?

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Singapore Malay daily teaches Mahathir about hardwork

The former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's assumption that Malays in Singapore had failed and their neighbouring Malays should take lesson from their plight has not impressed a Singaporean daily.
