Electoral reform: MCA betrayed us again

In a public hearing conducted by the parliamentary select committee (PSC) for electoral reforms recently, an MCA top representative delegated by the party president Dr Chua Soi Lek had deliberately informed the PSC that overseas Malaysians should not be allowed to vote via our nation's foreign missions and consulates because they are too dependent on the internet news reports.

This means the MCA leadership are all against the proposal to allow these overseas Malaysians to vote in our general elections.

And later that, MCA deputy president Liow Tiong Lai then added in to call on all overseas Malaysians to return and to serve this country if they really want back their voting rights. One point of Liow's statement that we need to scrutinize deeply.

If MCA and Liow wanted these overseas Malaysians to return to this country and serve her as well, can MCA guarantee these "returning" Malaysians better positions, jobs and as well as a just and equatable treatment in all sectors where they would eventually "work" in?

Can MCA guarantee all these overseas Malaysians a place where they were originally born to be a country where it is comfortable to live in? Well, it is merely a say as the MCA and Liow himself were confident that these overseas Malaysians won't return after all.

And since most of these overseas Malaysians knew pretty well about the many injustice in our nation's systems of distribution, the imbalance socio-political and economic environment, and because of these, they do not support the current BN government at all, MCA is putting its words out very clear and doing its best to prevent all these overseas Malaysians from voting and giving the oppositions more votes.

That is why MCA is aggressively resisting any moves or attempts to bring these votes from our overseas Malaysians back here to be accounted for in general elections.

MCA is now giving another reason for their resistance to this kind of electoral reforms. They are "worried" that these votes would ran out of control and could not guarantee if these votes or the ballots papers would be real or genuine ones if they were to be transferred from one country to another.

Just look, even countries that are under-developed gave these voting rights to their citizens working in other countries. Look at Indonesia and The Philippines, they all did that for their citizens living abroad too. The votes were all collected from their embassies and consulates worldwide and then transferred back to the home country to have it accounted for in their general elections.

MCA's call to prevent our overseas Malaysians from voting is also contradicted with the 1Malaysia's slogan which says "People First, Performance Know". MCA's action is indeed questionable. Are they really for the people or merely themselves?

They are all just hypocrites! Shut them out of our views please...
