Chinese school says no to Utusan newspaper
The decision to reject the free distribution of Utusan to the school was made by both the school management and its board of governors citing that the Malay language newspaper was deemed unsuitable and misleading to the people and the young people, particularly the students.
We praise the brave decision made by the school and its board in order to prevent such an irresponsible newspaper from being distributed to its students. This newspaper does not deserve to have readers at all
Utusan Malaysia, well known for its racist and hate reports, statements and remarks in its daily circulation and the newspaper is a wholly-owned by Umno, the supremacist race-based political party which is also a dominant organization in the Barisan Nasional coalition.
We also would like to urge other schools and organization to follow the brave example of this school in boycotting such newspaper from being distributed into their respective areas as this newspaper would bring negative impact and create disunity amongst people here who lives harmoniously in various multiracial communities.
