Shadow Cabinet: Najib an extreme liar

During the recent speech made by the Umno president Najib Razak in a function, he mislead the public that Pakatan Rakyat has no shadow cabinet in the parliament at all and challenge the opposition front to form a shadow cabinet to rival the BN's cabinet ministers.

Aside challenging Pakatan to have a shadow cabinet, Najib also said that in other developed countries, opposition blocs in parliament does have shadow cabinet to rival and check on each existing ministers' portfolios.

Well, Najib did not tell the people the whole truth about this. It shows that he is an extreme liar both politically and in person.

The first thing is, Pakatan Rakyat in fact already have a shadow cabinet in the parliament. Each of the cabinet portfolios are being represented by an MP each from PKR, DAP and PAS. Pakatan manages these portfolios via steering committees which fairly includes all its component parties in each cabinet portfolios. So, in actual fact the Pakatan Rakyat's shadow cabinet does exist and what Najib had claimed is extremely baseless.

Second thing is, in other developed nations, members of the opposition bloc in parliament does have a more structured and effective shadow cabinets because they are fully allocated with funds and well supported in terms of research and studies in their respective portfolios and also their parliamentary works. Why didn't Najib mention all these?

And why did Najib also mention that the opposition parliamentarians in Malaysia are not provided with any allocations or fundings at all?

In a very clear situation, Najib, Umno and BN treated the opposition MPs like hardcore criminals rather than as fellow parliamentarians working together for the betterment of the country. They never accept constructive criticisms from the opposition bloc with open heart but instead treated every word that came from the opposition as mere bluff and nothing were good. And what Umno and BN do and say are all "good" and "true".

It shows that Najib and the rest of his cohorts in Umno and BN did not want to confront the truth and sincerely work out for solutions for our nation. Whenever there are issues being brought up by Pakatan Rakyat for public scrutiny, Umno and BN are quick to use the 3Rs (Race, Religion and "Raja") to label the opposition bloc as hardcore criminals and treasonous.

So, this is how the opposition bloc in Malaysia is being oppressed and threatened.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Singapore Malay daily teaches Mahathir about hardwork

The former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's assumption that Malays in Singapore had failed and their neighbouring Malays should take lesson from their plight has not impressed a Singaporean daily.
