Federal Constitution that Safeguards the Legitimate Rights and Interest of All Malaysians

The provisions of the Federal Constitution are very clear. It confirmed the position of the Malay Rulers, Islam as an official religion of the federation and special position of the Malays and the natives in Sabah and Sarawak whilst recalling that those provisions balance those special positions with safeguards to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the other communities in Malaysia which also includes their right to profess and practice their religions freely without being fear of any threats or being harmed by anybody.

The legitimate interests of the non-Malays and non-Muslims would include, amongst others:

a) Article 153 (9) says that business or trade cannot be solely reserved only for the Malays,

b) Article 3 (1) says that the official religion of the federation is Islam BUT other religions are also allowed to be practiced in peace and harmony in any part of the federation. This means, the other communities too have their fundamental legitimate rights and interest here to practice their religions freely and without any restriction whatsoever,

c) Article 152 (1) provides for the national language to be the Bahasa Malaysia and the article also goes on to protect the legitimate rights and interest of other communities when it states no person shall be prohibited or prevented from using or from teaching or learning any other languages of the communities concerned,

d) Article 8 (1) safeguards the equality before the law all persons except expressly authorized by the constitution.

We all Malaysians, regardless of Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazan Dusuns, Muruts, Dayaks, Ibans and so on are also indeed loyal subjects to the Rulers and we would like to appeal to His Royal Highness the Rulers to protect the legitimate rights and interests of all communities in this nation and ;

To condemn those negative political elements and subversive racist groups who openly question the loyalty of our fellow Malaysians, creating racial tensions, inciting hatred and disunity in our already harmonious multiracial and multi religious communities;

To ensure that those negative political elements and subversive racist groups do not make use of the Rulers' institution for their political and racist means or one's self-interest or profits;

To urge the Rulers' institution to stay above politics and the executive governance of the nation in order to effectively perform His Royal Highness duties as constitutional monarch in accordance to the Federal Constitution.

All Malaysians should therefore unite and uphold the Federal Constitution which embodies the social contract to bring about social justice and unity to our beloved nation.
