Chicken Tsu Koon chicks out again!

When the Penang state government recently announced the creation of a state executive councillor portfolio in charge of non-Muslim religious affairs in the state, it immediately received counter-attacks from the BN component party leaders.

The first one was from the recently installed Kedah Umno deputy chairman Datuk Muhkriz Mahathir who lambasted at Penang Chief Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng for insulting Islam via the creation of a non-Muslim religious affairs Exco portfolio.

We should not blame Datuk Muhkriz for his narrow-mindedness because he is indeed suffering from some sort of severe brain damage. That is why he is already bald and he is also losing more hair than his father, former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Then, the chicken Gerakan president Dr Koh Tsu Koon chicks out again. He said that the non-Muslim Exco portfolio created by the Penang state government is a mere publicity stunt of Guan Eng.

Well, we would like to remind that chicken Tsu Koon not to chick out so cheaply like this. He had done it anyway and there is no way he can retract what he had said. That non-Muslim Exco portfolio is no publicity stunt of Guan Eng at all. It is a reality from the fact that the Penang state government is seriously looking into this matter.

Unlike Dr Koh's cabinet level interfaith committee in the prime minister's department which was supposed to report to him is now in a very cold storage. The interfaith committee has became defunct as the result of competition from a rival minister in the prime minister's department in charge of Islamic affairs who also wanted to take control of the interfaith committee. Dr Koh is currently the minister in the prime minister's department in charge of national unity.

Therefore, Dr Koh should realize that what Guan Eng had did is a full commitment, unlike himself who didn't even have an exclusive power to determine the direction of the cabinet level interfaith committee under his supervision which is now a defunct entity.

Dr Koh, you and Gerakan are being so chicken and you all don't deserve our support anymore. You are just a backdoor boy, being defeated in the last general election and just walked into the cabinet via a senator's post.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Singapore Malay daily teaches Mahathir about hardwork

The former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's assumption that Malays in Singapore had failed and their neighbouring Malays should take lesson from their plight has not impressed a Singaporean daily. The republic's Malay daily Berita Harian in an editorial said Malay-Muslims in the republic state were successful and it was a result of their real efforts and hard work in line with the values of meritocracy, not a result of being spoon-fed. “We do not believe in being spoon-fed or being too dependent on the government - in other words, we do not have a crutch mentality,' wrote editor Guntor Sadali.
