Allow Anti-Racism march, Human Rights group tells BN government
The renowned New York-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) has asked home minister and Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein to respect Malaysiaās international and legal obligations and to allow this Sundayās Solidarity March Against Racism to proceed. HRWās Asia region deputy director, Phil Robertson, called on Hishammuddin to overturn a decision by the police force to deny a permit for the march in Kuala Lumpur, saying that the organizers on their part should ensure that the walk is carried out in an orderly and peaceful manner. The Malaysian governmentās opposition to peaceful marches results in three big losers: the rights to free expression, freedom of association, and peaceful assembly.
