Got their Mykads only at their old age?
The recent publicities of the home ministry (KDN) awarding Mykads to several stateless aged people made most of us irritated, upset and disappointed.
Why did we say that? It is because these poor aged people had used their entire lives waiting for their citizenship application to be approved. Being stateless, they cannot enjoy the rights of being in Malaysia like going to school, getting proper education, applying for scholarships, bank loans, buying or owning properties, getting married and have families and so on.
Why did they have to wait till their age reaches 87, 90 or 99 years, after they undergone all those sufferings and misseries? They became stateless because of some constraints or setbacks during their time, maybe due to the war or family issues and so on, to name a few. These poor old folks were denied their entire human rights for decades.
And now the KDN dare come out in publicity telling the nation that these poor old folks have been awarded their citizenships. The recent one which was highlighted in the press today, that man had just passed away at the age of 99 and the special officer to the home minister hand delivered that man's Mykad to his family.
A disgusting and akward situation in Malaysia. A Malaysian is denied a Malaysian till the end of his life. Truly a disgusting chapter in 1Malaysia.
