Prof Khoo, what about checking on our nation's actual independence history?

Few days ago, our most renowned historian Professor Dr Khoo Kay Kim had deliberately declared that Hang Tuah and his band of brothers as well as Princess Hang Li Poh who is married to the Sultan of Malacca did not exist at all. He confirmed that the history has been tainted, saying that the history books will be reviewed and rewritten to put up the facts and truths.

However, Prof Khoo did not elaborate further on the thorough review of the entire Malaysian historical facts which also cover the role of our country's freedom fighters for independence since 1945.

Apart from mentioning that history must do away with the Hang Tuah and Princess Hang Li Poh epic as they did not exist at all, Prof Khoo also ought to clarify who are the real freedom fighters of our Malayan independence struggle.

Prof Khoo also need to explain that why the PUTERA-AMCJA's role in their quest for an independent Malaya was not appreciated, worst still being accused as terrorist and deleted from the historical facts.

Being a respected historian, he must dare to face and come up with the facts and truth. He cannot just open one eye on the other and close an eye on the rest when it comes to the definition of our country's history entirely.

The remaining veterans of PUTERA-AMCJA had voiced the facts of their struggle and everyone knew it from the beginning. Prof Khoo cannot just simply deny their existence as many of them are still alive and well out there. Check the facts and obtain all the documentations from them.

Remember, when these independence veterans from PUTERA-AMCJA were interviewed and their views were published online, these veterans produced facts and their documents to support the existence of their struggle, and how Umno had systematically hijacked whatever they had done for our country's independence.

What you say Prof Khoo? How about reviewing the entire Malayan history all over again? Are you brave enough to go for the facts and come up with the truth? If you still carry the title as a qualified historian as you had claimed all these years of your experience, then go for it and there's nothing to be afraid of.

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Singapore Malay daily teaches Mahathir about hardwork

The former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's assumption that Malays in Singapore had failed and their neighbouring Malays should take lesson from their plight has not impressed a Singaporean daily. The republic's Malay daily Berita Harian in an editorial said Malay-Muslims in the republic state were successful and it was a result of their real efforts and hard work in line with the values of meritocracy, not a result of being spoon-fed. “We do not believe in being spoon-fed or being too dependent on the government - in other words, we do not have a crutch mentality,' wrote editor Guntor Sadali.
