MCA and Chua Are Indeed Racists
In the recently concluded 13th general elections (GE13), MCA has saw the winning of its parliamentary and state seats contested being reduced tremendously to only 7 and and 11 seats respectively. MCA had contested 37 parliamentary seats and 90 state seats.
According to MCA president Chua Soi Lek, the results are very disappointing for MCA and as for that, the party will not accept any government positions within the coalition from this term onwards, be it ministerial or state executive councillor positions. According to Chua again, he felt disappointed with the Chinese community who has decided to rally behind the Opposition coalition, Pakatan Rakyat.
In the GE13 results announced late last night, Pakatan Rakyat had saw the increase of its parliamentary seats to 89 with DAP having garnered 38 seats, PKR got 30 and PAS with 21 seats. According to Chua again, DAP has won big and so does Umno. "As such, the two-party system has now become a two-race system, where all the Chinese are in the Opposition", he added.
The statement made by the MCA president clearly shows that he is still in a denial mode and have no intention to realize the facts which has been shown recently. He is in fact turning the entire situation into a racist factor by saying that the BN will establish a Malay government while the DAP will be the Chinese opposition.
Who is the problematic politician here? It is Chua himself who has pledged to exclude MCA members of parliament and state assemblymen from taking up any ministerial and state executive councillor positions reasoning that they are not performing well in the GE13. Chua and MCA has infact deny their own representation and wanted to stay away from the new government in both federal and state levels. Nobody has stop them from taking up the government positions even though they had performed even worst than 2008 (GE12).
And again, if such scenario really happens, it is Chua and MCA who are the ones paving way for the formation of a Malay-based government in both federal and state levels by simply shifting all the blame onto the Chinese community and DAP as a whole.
Why is Chua still looking at such results in a racist way? It is because MCA is still a Chinese-based political party. So, when the election results came out late of last night, he made an outlook based only on the Chinese electorate instead of the multiracial stand.
The voters had elected the Opposition bench which consist of a multiracial composition and it is not only the Chinese politicians who are in the opposition side. Yes, we know that DAP has the most seats, but the candidates won also consist of mix races, so does PKR, they too have a composition of mix races within its ranks of elected representatives, except for PAS who is an Islamic based party with only Malay candidates, but still the composition of the Opposition bench demonstrates a mixed race instead of being filled only by the Chinese.
Therefore, we should not look at the Opposition as a Chinese-based or a Chinese-led, as claimed by the MCA president. Chua had made such racist statement based on the fact that MCA is still Chinese-based and he is now trying to shift the entire blame onto the Pakatan Rakyat for causing such "two-race system" to exist between a "Malay government" and a "Chinese opposition".
The voters had already made their choice known by wanting a multiracial standing in the Opposition bench, unlike in the BN, there are still Umno for the Malays, MCA for the Chinese and MIC for the Indians as the dominant force within the ruling coalition.
MCA and all its leaders, particularly Chua, should wake up as soon as possible instead of harping on the old fashion race-based politics, accept the facts that the voters today has matured and became truly Malaysians. It is Umno, MCA and MIC who are the ones who are still looking at racial politics.
