Why only on race-based debates?

We are wondering why is the MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek only interested in race-based debate and politics? Why talk only on the Chinese community?

And whenever Dr Chua talk to the Chinese community, he will always remind them on the danger the Chinese would be facing in event of a Pakatan federal government take place come after the 13th general elections.

Dr Chua has forgotten that this nation is truly multiracial and in order to maintain its harmonious environment, politicians and political parties need to talk more about what would they offer or benefit the people in general and not only on one particular race.

Again, whenever Dr Chua says it has been always contradicting with what the Umno leaders has been carrying around. Dr Chua says if Pakatan were to come to power come next general elections, the Chinese community will be in danger of having live in a PAS-dominated Islamic Syariah law which would be implemented and imposed to all races and the other religions would be threatened to submit to this cause.

But on the other hand, Umno president Najib Razak is telling the Malay community that the Malays and Islam would suffer under the Pakatan government as DAP would dominate the administration, initiate a mass Christianisation and de-Islamisation of the Muslims at large, and in the end turn the entire nation into a Christian state.

So, for that particular debate held on last week, with Dr Chua on top there. His points would not go anywhere and instead serve more harm to the Chinese community, creating more suspicion among the community on their fellow Malays and Muslim, thus disturbing the already perfect harmonious environment. Same goes to Umno, who is out there to create more suspicion of the Malays against their fellow Chinese.

A reminder to Umno, this nation does not belong to one race nor a particular ruling race-based elites. This nation belongs to everyone of us, be it Malay, Chinese, Indian, Dayak, Sikh, Kadazans, Ibans or Orang Asli. We had shared and lived together for decades now.

If the debates are continue to be carried out based on the importance of one particular race, it will on serve to split the people rather than to unite them.

Debates should also be carried out professionally and in a well-mannered, where the topics and subjects to be forwarded onto the forum should be based on national interests, the people at large, the economy, how to wipe out corruption, prevent power abuse or mismanagement, provide a better living standard for every household, increase our incomes and many more.

Why talk only about "ketuanan" or supremacy, or who can champion the Chinese community a lot more, who can fight for the Indians with a single hand, or even shouting about the greatness of only one religion? All these subjects would eventually destroy our nation if these were to be remain unchecked.

In fact, race and religious affairs should not be formalized and make as something official like to be part of the nation's structure. This kind of thinking is unacceptable. Race and religion should be everyone's personal belonging and it should be only carried out behind the wall, a typical close door matter.

It is dangerous to instill race and religion into the administrative structure of the nation as it serve no purpose and the people would fail to perform professionally. Just look at how our civil service are being run these days. In the end of the day, do we all get the quality service that we want? Instead, when we criticize and try to correct the system which has been wrongly structured, the entire problem would then be politicized instead of looking or reviewing it in a professional prospective, under the rule and manner of administration.

Same goes to the debates, if we carry on with such race-based debates, the subjects forwarded would continue to be politicized, manipulated (see what The Star had twisted) or probably translated into another language inaccurately. In the end, some community or people may feel insulted, got offended and angry just because of all these gaps in between.

And if these gaps are not properly addressed, more and more rumours will be flying around, and the people will carry these message around in a different ways, manner, cultures and languages.

Finally, what will we get? Misunderstanding, misconception, misjudgment, then what?

So, please stop all those upcoming race-based debates and focus instead on the subject of national interests for the all the people and for the entire nation.

Stop Racism!
