No subsidies if no 1Malaysia logo on labels

Manufacturers of the three controlled items, flour, sugar and cooking oil will be forced to use the 1Malaysia logo on their packages of these products when putting them on sale starting from this month, if they wish to continue enjoying the government subsidies.

The new ruling was initially announced by Gerakan Wanita chief and deputy minister for domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism Tan Lian Hoe in Taiping on 10 February 2012. Prior to this, flour producers had been instructed by the ministry to use 1Malaysia logo on their wrapping from January 2012 this year, though it was not done compulsory.

However, from this month on, the 1Malaysia logo on these controlled items shall be mandatory and was also extended to the other controlled items, such as sugar and cooking oil.

Why asking the manufacturers of these items to put a political logo or trademark on their product packages? This is absolutely absurd and unacceptable, forcing the nation's businesses to print the political 1Malaysia logo or trademark onto their items and threatening them with no subsidies if they do not comply with it.

This is the people's daily essential consumable items. People buy them for their cooking and other food preparations, and the BN government wanted to put their election campaign to even onto these items? This is blatantly crazy!

It shows that the BN government which is currently dominated by Umno is now so desperate as the 1Malaysia message that they are now carrying did not get across the entire nation and that is why they had resorted to such move by forcing the businesses to help them 1Malaysia campaign to the people, thus also indirectly forcing the people to look at the logo.

This is also some sort of blatant violation of human rights and freedom of our people.
