In the recently statement, Umno president and prime minister Najib Razak had promised to revamp the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) to give it more powers to appoint its officers and to conduct investigations on all corrupt activities but on condition that the people should vote for the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general elections to give them a two-thirds majority. It seems the Umno president is thinking that the people are so easily being fooled. The fact that is if BN regain its two-thirds majority in the next general elections, they will certainly use their powers to reduce the roles of MACC to the minimum. Come on! In a very peaceful and civilized gathering of anti-Lynas activist in Penang's Padang Kota yesterday, some journalists were being attacked by violent and racist members of Umno and Perkasa who were out there to create disturbance. These Umno and Perkasa members who attacked the peaceful gathering were throwing stones, unwanted shoes, plastic bottles as well as hurling abusive and racist words onto the people who gathered there to voice their support for the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 rally protesting against the construction of a radioactive rare earth plant in Gebeng, Pahang. About 15,000 people had gathered at the Kuantan Municipal field today to participate in the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 in protest against the construction of the Lynas Advanced Material rare earth plant in Gebeng, Pahang. The Himpunan Hijau 2.0 rally had also issued an ultimatum to the Pahang Umno state government and the BN federal government to either close the radioactive plant or face another Himpunan Hijau 3.0 with a larger crowd of protesters. High investment figures, budget surpluses and reduction of debts in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) states are proof that the federal opposition is ready to take on the role of governing the country. MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek claimed that Pakatan Rakyat's policy document, the Buku Jingga, will bankrupt the entire nation in just two years upon implementation. What got to know in disgust that the BN government is now taking some RM1.5 million from our Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) savings in order to finance some sort of government-linked housing scheme for the "poor" and under qualified house buyers. What does that all mean to us? Our concern is what we and our employers had contributed into our EPF savings from the decades of our hard working and earnings is now going into the hands of some company alleged to be managing this so-called housing scheme for the "poor". MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek had recently announced that the party will now disallow any of its party members or leaders to attend Perkasa functions, events or activities.
